Who would use it and why. Dad had a brand new one. This is heavy leather/suede, padded inside with the thumb and fingers cut. The package verbiage reads of preventing fore end slip. Might be useful for long range session where many rounds are fired with big bore rifles? Any input?

They are and that one was worn during smalbore and highpower position shooting. Smallbore your hand can be in a sling for a 30 min string of fire. It helps steady the gun and also keeps the hand from pain. Your keeping pressure pushing the hand up against the sling stop. That can be a pinch point. When shooting International and Olympic events you must have a less padded and even length glove.
I gave up shooting for metals a decade ago but kept a similar glove for range use when shooting centerfire rifles. If not shooting off a forend rest. It is a 10x brand glove.
I used it for long range deer hunting when awaiting in prone or sitting position watching meadows.

It's for a right hand shooter so the glove goes on the left hand

Bobski, for HP get a "No Pulse" sling. They do work. Cannot be used International matches.
Edit: They might not be legal for service rifle rules.

only sling allowed on mil-hp are milspec mrt leather.

Turner makes a milspec approved non leather sling. Many out here use them, as I did. Sold through Creedmoor Sports.
