It's a cold day, cleaning some guns and got this one out. Two screws, 45 Blackhawk from 1977:

I'm working to make the transition to Imgur from Photobucket... First try so we'll see how it works.

Very imaginative gunsmith there. In 1977, 45 BH's didn't come with a dragoon grip frame from a Super BH, & didn't come with a colored insert front sight. So, somebody's done a bit of work. While they were at it, they or someone else besides the factory counterbored & threaded the frame for special made screws. I like it !

I would guess that if anybody went to that much trouble, the gave the action a good going over also. Would love to play with it some.

You got any info on it or observations of your own ? end shake, cyl. gap, trigger pull weight etc. ?

I have seen one other like that, and it was a cosmetic-only job -- slotted pins to look like screws.

Various gunsmiths will replace the pins on NMs with slotted pins and actual screws. Bowen actually adds a third screw that holds a cyl latch support block in place.

When I convert NM stainless guns to OM actions with or w/o transfer bars, I install three actual screws.

I can't get photobucket to work yesterday evening or this morning to get to my old photos, so I'll just provide a link to an earlier post when I first purchased this revolver. It shows photos of the screws, and as Flatgate observed it has a custom ejector rod button as well. The action is indeed very smooth and it makes a great shooter.

As a footnote, I re-posted the photo on this one as a trial to move photos from photobucket over to Imgur. It seemed to work pretty well, but now I can't even get in to Photobucket to download/move photos... As others have pointed out, it's past "frustrating" to deal with the slow and unusable Photobucket these days.

I took the liberty to post your photos here for you. Your long grip frame screw has been shortened as well because the hammer screw no longer needs the pin "keeper screw":

Yow . . . that 2010 thread inspired me to add a SBH grip frame to my 4-5/8" NM .45 Blackhawk. It looked so good I did the same to my similar Old Model with the incorporation of Carl's little "adapter" thingie.

Thanks for the trip in the Wayback Machine.

:)
