So my dad shot my Bisley flattop blued version last weekend. Tuesday he ordered a stainless 5.5". I looked at it today in the gun shop, it's going back. Grips were 1/8 undersized all the way around. Action felt like gravel, the worst part it had what appears as a crack in the frame ahead of the trigger guard. The crack has rust showing. The fit on frame to grip is terrible. Grips are well ugly, besides not fitting the frame there is no grain, just smeared stain on sap wood.
I'm afraid if he orders a new one it will have similar issues. Would he be better of ordering a blued version? Shame on Ruger for letting this out. Harbor freight has better finish on their tools, than this POS.

What a bummer!

I have both a blue and a stainless flattop 44's in 4 5/8" and both are very nicely finished.

They are both plow handles with the hard rubber, so not apples to apples, but the hard rubber grips fit pretty good.

The actions on both are dang smooth, with acceptable triggers.

Sorry to hear about your woes with the Bisley!

We all know the excitement that comes with getting a new gun in the mail, but to then be left disappointed by it is a serious bummer!

I'm sure Ruger will take care of you, but it doesn't change the fact that it never should have happened in the first place!

Good luck to you and your Dad!

I would guess that it is equally possible that you will receive a disappointing gun for any given Ruger model, so if you want the stainless, I would reorder the stainless. As others have said, Ruger is excellent about standing behind their product.

I hate that. I have the exact model and it's put together great and it's tight. She's a beauty and shoots fantastic.

Grips are no big deal to me as I usually always change out for a custom grip anyway. But the rest .... sounds like a lemon that that needs to go back.

I showed him the Talo/Turnbull model. Im not sure wich way he will go. Since he didnt dothe paper work on the stainless the gun shop distributer will have to deal with Ruger. I couldnt believe it was sent out like this. The first impression was hey the grips shrunk, then the guy behind the counter said I think the frame is cracked.
