I have sat here trying to figure out if I'm loosing my mind or just don't get it. :roll:

They make a sling stud that goes around the barrel and the you can put a sling stud in the grip frame so I guess you are loosing your mind. As to where to get one or a kit I have no idea but I have seen them. I have a friend that has one on a Super Blackhawk. You can probably piece one together with a front sling mount that goes on a Winchester and something like Bowen sells for the rear without the loop. Good Luck!!

I thought about this back when I built my 10.5" SBH, bought the hunter holster, :lol: :lol: :lol: Then saw the barrel band that come's on some #1's and yes a Bowen grip frame ring. I have allways wondered what the dia is where the ring is mounted. Good Idea, Have never seen a kit.

I guess we need to figure out what the dimention of the barrel is. A Hunter barrel is .774. A little chop, cut, re-build might be in order.
Part from Ruger is, Sling Swivel Band/ S-142/Blue KS-142/Stainless Light Sporter
$22 at Midway on a special order, Ruger probably has them, but tring to figure out dimentions, I don't know.
There's this and it looks easier to install but not stainless, the rear stud would need to be a little different.

Forget the sling, you need a BIPOD on that thing. I like it.

I use the split ring that G2 shows in his reply. I forget what rifle it was for but it was a lever action magazine tube. Just measure the barrel where you want to put it and then look at the specs for the swivel. The grip frame I just used a machine screw type stud, I drilled and tapped the hole, no big deal.
Just send it to Magna-port and have them install a set of studs for your shoulder strap with quick release sling swivels. They did a great job on a 10 1/2" SBH for me.

Freedom Arms installs "Sling Studs". One is threaded into the heel of the grip frame and the other, very similar to an "ejector housing lug", is soldered to the barrel.

The best way I have found to do these type of mods in the past is the "barrel band" method. The problem being that many people "decide" they don't "like" the mod after the fact and want it reversed later! Just not a lot of room for drilling and tapping and the stud definitely needs to be loctited. Threads need to be cleaned out and a cap screw made. Unsightly to some people. Soldering a base on "is" a good permanent method but messy to remove and clean up. Been there, done that!.....................Dick :idea:
I have a Hunter Version as Stated in Title Which Has a Full Top Lug on it.
So the Full Band Wont Work.
BUT THE SPLIT BAND Will, Now to Find it in SS / Nickle.

Get it to the right I/O and then, chop, cut, the top out of the ring to something that looks nice coming just short of the full rib with some simple file detail, and then solder it on.
As Pinecone stated; Better make sure you want it, clean up would be a bear.
I agree the $20 2 piece part is the way to go to try it out. I don't think you will find it in stainless, but you could send off the parts and have them blasted & hard cromed looks ohhhh so close to SS.
