I know it's of traditional, but I would really like to have aluminum grips on my Bisley hunter and my lipseys 3.75" Bisley. I can't be the only one who would buy these if they were made, could I?

Since aluminum isn't an option, what is the toughest, most waterproof, solvent resistant grip material?

I've been looking into micarta. The prices seem to be all over the board. What should I look for in this grip material or are they all the same?

Look up caryc and see what he has that strikes your fancy. He shows some real nice BISLEY grips out of black micarta on his web site. He requires your grip frame to make the grips PERFECT and says he can turn them around to you quickly. (I was going to send him a pair of HUNTER grip frames for black micarta, but a major financial/personal problem has taken care of my excess cash for the foreseeable future. I'll get back with my project, but it may take some time.)

Cary makes some nice grips. There are a couple others who work with Micarta around here too, and they do fantastic work as well.

Micarta is great stuff. It generally comes as paper micarta, linen micarta or canvas micarta.Linen and canvas show the weave and are often used as utilitarian looking handles on tactical knives etc.Paper micarta produces the finest finish and like the others is sturdy and stable. The most expensive color is ivory. The cheapest is black,at least when talking about the raw material.CaryC's work is top shelf.

Gary Reeder's micarta grips are phenomenal. I just got a pair back from him yesterday (attached to a 5 shot conversion) in Black micarta with chicken emblems and they are perfectly fitted and shaped to the grip frame. I'll try to post pics tonight so you can see them.

Bisley grip frames vary in dimension. That's why it is a good idea to have someone make you a pair, with your gripframe in hand.

IME, that goes for any model grip frame, if you want a 100% fit. I've never bought a pair that were made w/out my grip frame that didn't take at least a little bit of final fitting after I got them. Sending the grip frame is worth the tiny extra expense of shipping.
