I have a hunter bisley 44 and a 4 5/8" stainless super blackhawk.I can take apart and reassemble my blackhawks,supers and single sixs with no problem.Would swapping these two grip frames(bisley on super and square back on hunter) be in my league since I'm just a shade bench ruger mechanic? Is the bisley frame much different than a plow handle as far as taking down and reassembly? I know trigger and hammer has to go with each grip frame. Thanks

No problem switching them as long as you swap hammers and triggers. Just notice that the bisley's top two grip frame screws are allen head rather than slotted. As long as they are both new model large frame guns, swap away. Note that the "fit" of the ears at the top of the grip frame may not be perfect on the swap but that will not effect functionability.

As mentioned above, you may have to trim the ears, if you do, there's no going back. The altered Bisley grip won't mate up to it's original frame any longer.

Well...there could be an issue actually. Some, the newer ones don't have the tabs that protrude into the voids on the cylinder frame, the newer ones don't have the voids so if the grip frame had the tabs and the cylinder frame didn't have the voids...

As BlkHawk73 mentioned, the older grip frames have the locator tabs that protrude and mate-up with the cylinder frame. Easy fix, just file the tabs off and the grip frame will fit.
Here is a 50Th 44 Flattop that I installed an older Dragoon frame. The ears were a little shorter, but I did not modify the cylinder frame just in case it went back to original.

Thanks to all for the information and photos.I think I better leave everything as is for now.And if there's no going back,I don't want to change something I can't put back.Besides,I got mixed up on what was what.The 4 5/8" in stainless has the round trigger guard and was thinking about my blued that I put the square back on and looking at the 7 1/2" stainless.I'm confused now so I'll call it a day :? .Thanks for the replies.

As mentioned, the "ears" on the grip frame could be an issue.
Get a thin long bladed screw driver to push the trigger return spring back in place during re-assembly. A BLACKHAWK is a piece of cake compared to the BISLEY because of the extension on the front of the BISLEY trigger and the size of the slot in the grip frame for the trigger. You'll know what I mean when you do it! Someone had a previous post about the trigger not returning after he took the gun apart...probably what happened to him, but I'm not sure.
My last used BISLEY had a BLACKHAWK trigger installed...when I detail stripped the gun and then re-assembled it I found why it had been done.
