Took a 200 mile round trip gun shop trip yesterday. First stopped at a shop in St. Marys, Pa. where I found and laid away a Ruger Single Six three screw. Price was $275.00, condition exc. plus (small area of holster wear at the end of the barrel), tight and smooth lock work, both cyls.

I laid it away because, although I had 800 dollars with me in gun money, I had three or four other gun shops to visit.

Stopped at another gun shop, nothing good there, chatted with the owner for awhile, moved on.

Arrived at Grice Gun shop in Clearfield, Pa. Purchased a Marlin model 94, pre safety in 357 mag for $449.00 with a cheap Bushnell scope on it. Looked at another pre safety Marlin in 44 mag for the same price and a pre safety Rossi carbine in 44-40 for $409.00. Passed on both those. Picked up several thousand CCI primers on sale for $23.95 a thou. and Win. power point 22's for 35.00 a brick.

Nice lunch/early dinner with the wife, then hit several other shops going home by a different route. (wife takes book to read while I am in the shops, we've been doing this for many years and she knows I may be awhile) Stopped off at the super wal mart so wife could do some shopping, stopped at Ollies for same reason.

Left early in the a.m., got home late....dogs glad as always to see us come home.

Great day, did better than I did at several recent gun show.

What part of NW PA are you from? I try to hit that shop in St. Mary's (Elk County Arms and Ammo?) and Grice's whenever we make the trip to Benezette to see the elk each fall. Did you stop by Bob's Army/Navy while in Clearfield. Always an interesting place.

I used to go "gun shop hopping" as I call it all the time. After working in a gun shop the past two plus years, I seldom get the urge anymore!!!!

reakin,

I'm from Potter County, Bingham township.

Yep, hit Elk Cty, Grices, and Bobs, as well as the shop on Rt. 219 just outside Clearfield, as well as several others.

gunman,

I don't think workiing in a gun shop would be good for me. I might be broke all the time and spend more than I set aside for gun purchases.

Olevern, OK, now get yourself a good "gun book" and take your "wife" on a shopping tour of "her" choice! Great way to level the playing field among other things!..................Dick

Pinecone,

Guess I will have to ask my wife if she has anywhere she wants to go, We already go to candle shops when the mood strikes her and she prefers to shop for clothing with our adult daughter, probably 'cause she enjoys buying her and the grandchildren clothing as well.

Anyway, I am retired and have plenty of time on my hands, so not a problem to take her anywhere she wants to go.

BTW, she frequently goes with me to gun shows, all she asks is that afterward we go out to a nice restaurant.

Small price to pay for her company.

That's nice. Sweet story. It's so nice to see a good friendship within a good marriage. Congratulations!

I usuually do my tour once a week and always look forward to seeing and BSing with the shop folk. I never know what they will have in the case or on the rack....Most the places I go to do consignment sales, so you never know what treasures may show up.

Lots of fun....... :D
