When I first came home from the Army, I dated a girl that was in a local Beauty Contest in Virginia Beach. Even in that small scale, it got ugly. I had no idea women can be so catty. It was ultra competitive. I can only imagine what a major contest is like especially when big money is at stake.
Moral of the story. As far as beauty contest, enjoy looking at them, but do not date one.

Being the son of a Marine Career Officer, I would say no. Marines do not think that way. A man's wife is off limits. They have more important things to concern themselves with.

In case you haven't noticed, Marines aren't spending much time in "the heat of battle" recently. Even during the Afghanistan debacle, most Marines were not in the midst of a firefight.

A friend's daughter won a Miss Teen State pageant about twenty years ago. It was her only foray into pageants. She'd heard that the winner got a scholarship so she entered and won. I'm sure that ticked off many of the girls who had been playing the pageant game since they were four.
