Ugly Tesla Cybertruck !

Have any of you seen one of them in person? I've seen two of them so far and man are they UGLY. They're full of hard angles and lumps and bumps all over them. And, the paint job on them just adds to the UGLYNESS. I'm sure most of you have seen a film of some kind of oil on water. That's what they look like. The first one I saw was painted with that stuff and it was just the color of the stainless steel. The second one I saw was kind of purplish over the stainless steel. I figure the things must be dipped into a pit where they lower the body first then apply that film to the surface of the water, then raise the body to get the film to stick to it. That's exactly what it looks like. There must be something wrong with the people who buy those things. To intentionally build something that ugly should be a crime.

Have seen a few and as you say they are ugly, also not very practical. I'd like to see someone try and slide a few sheets of OSB into the "box" :unsure:

Wife and I pulled into a parking spot about the same time as a Cybertruck parked. We had our dog and were going for a walk the other person also had a dog . Well being curious how the bed cover worked, it was uncovered and the owner was trying to close it. I waited a minute maybe two and the bed cover wasn't closed so we walked off.
Cybertruck was gone when we finished our walk, no idea how long it took close the bed cover.

What surprised me about them the most is how small they are...so far they sold 46,000 of them worldwide but they had "orders" for over 1,000,000, quite possibly the biggest flop in automotive history. A quick search showed 198 used ones available within 75 miles of me and I believe production is at a standstill for new ones.

The reality is they are not selling them to anyone who actually needs a truck. But then I venture to say that at lot if not most pickup trucks are sold to folks who have never actually used a truck as a truck. I grew up on a farm riding and then driving trucks... was totally blown away back in about 1981 at my second job out of college when a fellow worker was going to borrow another guys truck and promised not to scratch up the bed.....

I remember when the Citroen came out in the U.S. They weren't a bad looking car, my Dad almost bought one. If I remember right, they had adjustable suspensions. One could set the height of the front and back wherever they wanted it.

My neighbor imports & exports high end and classic cars for a living. His own fleet included three Citroens. That adjustable suspension is probably what gave all the low riders the idea of hydraulics.

There must be something wrong with the people who buy those things.

Other than farmers and tradesmen, there's something wrong with anyone who buys a truck as a daily driver.

I've seen a fair number of them on the road, and I think that they are super cool looking! They are larger than I originally thought, and I have no doubt that as an everyday vehicle they would be far more fun to drive than a standard pick up truck. The acceleration of the electric motor is awesome. My nephew has a Tesla S model and the 0-60 time is probably around 3 seconds, throwing you back against the seat.... better than a Corvette. I like that the bed of the Cybertruck has a powered cover, and it is sturdy enough that you can walk on top of it. And having alleged bulletproof side panels is not a bad thing in my opinion.

If I were considering a pick up, and willing to spend the big bucks for either the Cybertruck or a regular pickup, I would certainly consider the Tesla.

Slightly off topic but still in EV realm, heard on the news yesterday that GM is going to abandon electric vehicles. I remember the woman CEO saying they expect to only be making EV's within the next ten years or so.

Fugly isn't a harsh enough term.

There are quite a few around her and many have been "wrapped"! A wrap doesn't help in any way.

And wraps ain’t cheap. They can run $3K to $5K. Insain.

im told the selling feature of that car was you could drive it on a flat with a wheel of the axle. it was so balanced.
