Tried the search mode, couldn't find any help on this question. How hard is it to remove the barrel from a GP-100? My son-in-law has a 4" model, and we'd like to remove it and cut it back to between 2.5-3", then replace it. I've rebarrelled several S&W's, didn't know if there was any tricks you need to know when working with the Ruger. Thanks for the info.

No tricks. A proper tool for holding the cylinder frame/receiver and a proper tool for gripping the barrel is about all that's needed IMHO.

PS Kuhnhausen's book would possibly be helpful, despite the fact it does NOT cover the GP-100. Click HERE.

Note that the publisher indicates that the GP100 will be covered in Volume II to be released at a later date. I emailed them a couple years ago encouraging them to do just that - if it ever does get printed it should be a very good resource.
