It's designed to pickup nuts, acorns, etc.. but looks like it might work for brass.

Might work for brass the size of pecan nuts or larger. I used to use one for that.
Yes I have one it works about half way on concrete is totally ineffective in grass. My club range is granite "fines", it presses 50-60% of the brass into the "fines" a light "touch" works better than a heavy "touch". I think Contender has one of the ones with the plastic "fingers" that does a better job on his hard dry red clay.
I just used mine (Tipton) on 45 Acp cases today, fines were wet it worked satisfactory except where the "fines" were dry.

I've seen it used once. Looked like the one on the right. Seemed to work well for picking up most everything.

Looks like it would work . I have a friend in oakhurst area by Yosemite they have what you call ranger ranges they are free just pick your garbage most people sadly don’t it a mess up there but fun times shoot what you want he has 2 or 3 in the area he pick up brass all the time 5 gallon buckets full his last cash in I kid you not 32000 dollars. I think he said it takes him a couple years to do and two truck loads to the brass recycling place . Now that’s a lot of brass at 2.50 a pound

I have (2) brass recovery rollers similar to the ones pictured above.
No,, they aren't plastic,, they use the metal spring wires just like the ones shown.
They work on harder surfaces,, OR,, soft sand. Yes, they can pick up gravel, or anything else that will fit in them. Yes,, they can work in grass,, but I've found that instead of rolling them, I put the wires on top of a piece of brass & push down to get the brass.
They have drawbacks,, in that you will get other debris in with the brass. And if you don't empty it after about 15-20 pieces,, you can actually drop brass out you've already picked up.
The ones I have,, came with a wire rod thing that slips over the edge of a 5 gal bucket, to use to empty the picker.
They do reduce back strain & pains!

We have a few at my gun club but they aren't very efficient. A broom and dust pan works much better.

I saw you use it at the Gathering. It looked nice.
And man, back pain is real! At my club, one range has Astro turf on it. I’ve picked up a lot of brass. The next day my lower back and legs hurt like crazy.
But now they have one of these. It works average. It’s VERY heavy to manage and picks up as much debris as it does brass. In fact, if the brass has been stepped on, and sort of smushed down, it won’t pick them up at all.
So with the price ($599), I certainly wouldn’t recommend this thing.
Yeah, I’m betting it was designed for indoor ranges with nice concrete slabs. Cool though.

Kevin, those rolling push type brass pickers work great on hard surfaces without any other debris. Designed for indoor ranges.
I have one like contender describes with the wire that fits on a bucket to dump the brass. It works well on the two ranges I use which have concrete pads.

It definitely influences my decision if I will be indoors or outdoors. Revolvers out doors semi auto indoors.
We bought one of those rollers. It does work ok on sand and dirt. Ours does not work at all on small rimfire brass.

I have a catcher for my AR and have used a tarp for others. Sometimes those can melt though.

Gads, I get millions of palm tree nuts in my yard, I wonder if this will work on them?
