not the newest but a year or so old.

I'm looking at buying one for my wife and specifically so she can watch our virtual church service on Sundays .

I'd like to be able to either connect or transfer the signal to our TV... this at the moment is not a smart TV but does have Roku.

But I could if need be go to a smart ass TV... (the service is on Facebook Live)

She is not computer literate but has used an iPad in the past to go on line and I think this would be the simplest way for her to connect.

She only goes to service about once a month, but I go just about every week to sit in the foyer and 'look out'.

I’m using what they call an 8th generation iPad, version 14.6.

Upgraded less than a year ago from one of the very first ones they made.

The difference is amazing. Not sure what else to tell you. I know this iPad will do way more than I am capable of using or needing.

How is your church service streamed online? Is it live on Youtube? If so,on the Roku tv, can you download the Youtube App?

Here is what I found about screen mirroring on your TV from an iPad.

I've tried doing this but haven't had any success. My wife can do it from her phone, but only on YouTube videos. We have the Amazon Firestick TV. It's got the YouTube app on it.

It shouldn't matter if the iPad is a few years old or brand new, as long as the OS is up to date. Which I don't even think that would matter.

If it doesn't work, I think you might have to upgrade to a Smart TV. But that is just a guess on my part. I think if you buy a new iPad, you get a Free year of Apple TV. I think at least, I know they had that deal a couple years ago.

I'm not much on this stuff so probably no real help. If the services are based on u-toob, it shouldn't be any problem to get it on the iPAD same as any other u-toob video???
Grandson's school band programs are u-toob'd and Daughter just sends us a link that works on iPAD, desktop, and laptop.

The service is actually on Farsebook (that's what I call it) facebook live... I'm sure it won't be a problem getting it on the newer iPad... in fact I think the older (original) iPad I got for her many years ago would do that... if I could figure out where it is. But I would prefer to move it over to a bigger TV with better speakers and hopefully with out a lot of clicks and complicated things... but we'll see. I just ordered a reconditioned iPad and it should be here on Thursday.

I have an Ipad that I have used for Screen Mirroring. Could not be easier to do. Ironically I had used it to get the Apple TV app on my Ipad (I got a year free on Apple TV) to show on my flat screen TV. I also have a Roku stick on my TV, and now Apple TV is on Roku so I no longer need to do Screen Mirroring. But it is a nice feature.

Overall I am very happy with my Ipad, but there are some quirks which I do not understand and have to go back to my older computer (the one I am on right now). And recently my Ipad would not turn on, but just stayed black. I tried various button presses and combinations thereof with no initial success and then suddenly it came back on. I was almost ready to consider the Ipad dead, but fortunately this has not reoccurred. In truth, other than having a larger screen, it does not really add much to what I can do on my Iphone12.

The standard $329 iPad will do everything you need, if you want to store a bunch of Netflix movies on it for power outages or travel the get the 128GB version. Otherwise you will do fine with the regular 32GB model. I’m a heavy user of Apple products but my Gen 6, 128GB iPad does everything I need it to do. Since you’re familiar with Apple an Apple TV will make your current TV a Smart TV.

The thing was supposed to come in today and low and behold it was delivered yesterday... (one day) I got it up and running... I will say if you have an account with apple it sure is easy.... the point the camera of the iPad and the weird squiggly image on the iPhone is kind of too mysterious... or maybe it was the other way around.

the mirror thing using our Roku device was easy too... but what I still need to work on is there is no audio on the TV.... it mirrors what is on the screen of the iPad but does not seem to transfer the sound to the TV.
