Hey Guys,
I know from all of the food post on the Forum that there are lot of FOODIES on here.
Since cooking on a Griddle has become very popular I was curious if there are any Griddlers here. I bought a Blackstone Griddle about 3 years ago and really enjoy it and the food cooked on it.
Goes back to the old Dinner/hamburger way of cooking.
I have previously grilled burgers, well let me tell you a done correctly smash burger on the flat top will beat it hands down.
Anyway since there have been many food topics here but none on grills made me wonder.
This guy does a great job of showing what can be done on a griddle. He was also a cook in the Navy.
https://video.search.yahoo.com/sear...3BpdnM-?p=flat+top+king&fr2=piv-web&fr=ymyy-tI'm very happy with this Griddle. It also has 2 side burners on it.

In one of my Veteran's organizations, we have a large gas griddle. We use it often. And I agree, with a large griddle, a fry-artist can cook up just about anything, do it quickly, and do it nicely.

I enjoy volunteering as the cook.

Meats, breads, potatoes, vegetables, I can fry them up simultaneously, I can easily tailor done-ness, and I can easily slip in variations. And at times, folks will bring extra foods or ingredients of their choice, and I can slip it in with little or no additional preparation.

Yep! We’ve got a Wolf cooktop in the kitchen. It’s got 4 burners and a 24” wide griddle. (Gas.)

Best pancakes ever! And you’re correct about the smash burgers. In fact, look up “Chopped Cheese”
Chopped cheese wikipedia

I’ve made those before, and they are like smash burgers, but I think just a bit better.

I’ve thought about getting one of those black stones for down here at the beach.

I have a pretty big griddle in my outdoor kitchen I used to use to cook bacon... 3-4 lbs at a time... but now don't use it very often.

I did buy a griddle last Summer for the annual chimney sweep gathering we have on Lake Murray S.C. every September... and the one I bought is pretty nice even if it is a Camp Chief made in China (spit)

Here's a picture of a sweep from California, Michael, cleaning it at our site on the lake....

But note the pizza oven behind her.. we spend close to $10,000 building that puppy and use it a lot while we are there....

most of the firebrick inside of the box were custom cut to fit with very little to no mortar joints. The guy we had come down from New York State to build this and show us how believes in no more than a 32nd of an inch tolerance when cutting a brick for something like this.

I was raised in a restaurant,, where the "grill" was used a LOT. Now folks call them griddles.
First thing in the morning we'd light the grill, and put on coffee. Both were equally important. I learned to coo a lot of stuff on that one.

Well, a few years ago,, our sons heard me talking about the Blackstones & they gifted Miss Penny & I with a small table-top version. Yep,, I'm the cook there. Miss Penny has used it maybe once or twice.
If I see a deal on a bigger one,, look out,, I'm a buying it.

Hey Guys.
Just in from cleaning up the Blackstone after doing smash cheese burgers with bacon, tomatoes, lattice, grilled sweet onions all on a butter toasted brioche bun. Also did a side of french fries. All done on the Griddle

I didn't take any pictures because I was afraid to show them. I know for a fact after seeing those smash burger pictures I would have a bunch of you CHOW HOUNDS beating on my front door with knife and fork in hand :) :) :)
Happy Griddeling

I have a 36" Blackstone. Its a great griddle. I have a gas and charcoal BBQ too. I have two air fryers so I bring the one outside to cook frozen french fries or onion rings in. As we live in Phoenix we can cook outside most of the year.

Ok, I’m looking at this thread and went to Blackstone’s website.

I didn’t know the have a pizza oven. The prices for a regular griddle aren’t outrageous, more like normal grill prices.

But their pizza over is $799. Which is high, but if it’s good, isn’t out of sight.

But this is just for pizza??? So why the price difference?

Jim,, I can't show that picture to Miss Penny. She'd be headed to Texas!!!! :D

Seriously,, that looks good! (Throw in some shrimp with it & I know she'd be headed west!)

That's too much like something in a kitchen. I'm going primitive lately. I've done grilling on gas and charcoal as well as smoking and rotissing. Lately I like cooking over real actual fire. Plenty of hickory trees so a great source of firewood. I let the fire settle to a good bed of coals and then throw some wood in just before cooking to get a good sear. I fried my first fish today. I usually grill that too but the catfish seemed a little fragile for that.

That is a big one for sure.
Don't tell me she is cleaning it with SOAP AND WATER :( :(
If so that should do a pretty good job of removing the seasoning.;)
Camp chef claims the griddle is seasoned but that is a joke.... first thing to do with a new one is scrub it down and then cook about 5 lbs of bacon on it....

the nice thing about this one is the 6 burners... you can actually have three different heat settings for three different items on it it is so big.

Sooooooooooooo you took an unseasoned griddle to an event.
Starting by cooking a bunch of bacon is not the preferred way to season a griddle. Anyway that is not how Blackstone or the griddle videos show how to do it. ;)
Yes I can see where the 6 burners could be an advantage. Over the years I have learned where the hot spots and how to control the temps on mine. FWIW A cookie cooling rack placed on the griddle works pretty good as a warmer for cooked items.
Griddle away:-)
