Ok guys, please remember that I'm new to revolvers and especially the SRH I purchased used since I know this may be a very basic question.
The PO had Wolff springs installed. The trigger Guard latch Spring was replaced with a Wolff 10# spring and the Hammer Spring was replaced with a 9# spring.
I've had about a 30% rate of FTF using CCI primers in my reloads. I've been told that changing the Hammer spring is not a good idea for just this reason. I have the original Springs and think that I can easily re-install the hammer spring.
Here is my confusion, In looking at a schematic for the pistol the only spring I see listed that "could" be the hammer spring is what is called the "mainspring". Are the hammer spring and Mainspring one and the same?
Lastly, if a put the original hammer spring back in should I also install the original latch spring?

Yes, I'd reinstall the Factory Hammer spring/Mainspring. I'd keep the stock latch spring in place as well. (If you are referring to the cylinder latch spring.) Especially so if you have a "big bore" SRH!

The 'latch spring' controls not only the triggerguard latch but also the trigger return. Is the trigger return snappy? does it feel right to you? If it is weak you might want to go back to the factory spring. ...And yes the Hammerspring and the Mainspring are the same thing. 8) 8)

Thanks Guys, I reinstalled the factory mainspring last night and left in the latch spring. I do not notice much any difference in the trigger but hopefully it will correct the FTF. I'll find out at the range later this week.
Trigger return seems fine so I am going to leave the latch spring as is for now.

The factory hammerspring should fix your FTF problem but if it doesn't look for whatever might be slowing down the hammer. Are there any scuff marks on the sides of the hammer? Check the firing pin protrusion and free movement of the firing pin, sometimes they can get gunked-up, etc. 8) 8)
