Ordered a portable shooting table from Amazon at 1:50 pm on Wednesday (yesterday). It left Ontario, CA yesterday at 8:29 pm. It arrived on my front porch, in Maryland, at 11:14 am today. That is about as quick as you can get.

I’m not saying it didn’t come all that way. But they also have warehouses all over the place. Good possibility it was actually much closer.

Yes Amazon is amazing. They are buying and flying their own planes along with having their own delivery trucks. In fact they are setting up their own employees to have their own delivery Van business.

That's impressive. I had a similar experience - once - with the USPS. My wife mailed a small package to me from a small satellite post office at Edgewood Arsenal, MD. A day later, it was delivered to me at a U.S. Army installation - in Kuwait! The stars were obviously aligned during that particular period.
Yes, as to what Wyandott Jim says, I read on the news, they are helping their employees quit to start their own independent delivery businesses. Supposedly giving them stipends and assistance in getting the delivery companies up and running.
Pretty smart actually. Around here they upped the delivery times to one day for most items.
My wife and I were at Wal Mart thinking about one of those inflatable queen sized air mattresses to use on a trip this summer. It was $62 at Wal-Mart and $44 on Amazon. Same exact thing. I ordered it inside the Wal-Mart on my phone and it was delivered the next day to my front door.
Pretty smart actually. Around here they upped the delivery times to one day for most items.

Sometimes Amazon is the only place I can buy what I need. Only rarely is the price not lower at Amazon. And either way, a huge corporations gets the profit, be it Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart or Amazon. I run a business of one. Me. I have to run a tight ship when spending limited funds too. Have bought over 200 items from Amazon in the last 7 years and received better service, on the very rare occasion there's a problem, than ever received anywhere else. Don

I had another Amazon item delivered one day after I placed the order. It was delivered by two young men driving a Honda. The actual delivery individual was wearing a da-glo vest. He said they were contract delivery.

door step the next afternoon. My bet is that it was in the Phoenix warehouse.
Just cancelled an order. It was shown as "in stock" but the projected delivery
date was . . . . . . . fifteen days (for something you could hold in one hand).
I think that is called consistently inconsistent. :roll:

Only issues I have with Amazon.....if my order is over the $25 for "free shipping".....the delivery times are a week to ten days.....pay for shipping( and I do not mean over night)...one or two days....."free shipping".....falls down on their priorities for filling orders....as I was told by Amazon customer service

That I'll believe . . . unless you order a bunch from them (I've been holdingroashooter said:
at about 70-80 orders per six months, for multiple years). Once you are a
"regular" they also pay attention for your reason in cancelling. I will use
"order will not arrive on time" (or some such phrase), and usually I get
much better order turn around for several weeks after that.
They want to play silly games . . . I am retired so I have time to play their
games as much as they want.
So long as I can get what I want/need in a reasonable time frame AND it
costs me less than I can get it elsewhere, I'll continue with them. When I
want something I go to Amazon to start, put the best price in "my cart",
then go looking elsewhere. If I find a better price, I buy it there, and delete
the entry from "my cart". :D
I started doing it that way when I found an item with FIVE different prices
on Amazon (and not just by a few dollars). - - - It still pays to shop. 8)
I found one item for about $40 from one vendor and the exact same item
from another for $95 :shock: (both new) I've also seen items that the
shipping was more than the cost of the item (yawn). :wink:

The second item I mentioned cost less than $30.00 and I paid nothing for shipping and had a 24 hour buy to deliver time. We, the wife and I, had never had to wait more than a week for anything. Maybe we are holding our mouth right since we don't believe in luck.

I am in the process of returning an item I got, that came from a vendor,
that I paid $3.96 for shipping. I accepted that so that's fine. The problem
is that I was sent the wrong item, AND they expect me to pay for shipping
THE WRONG ITEM BACK!
Not happy with that at all. I'll do it, but only because a (guessing) $10
charge to ship it back gets me the $65 refund (minus the shipping).
If I had messed up, then that would be very reasonable. But when THEY
send the wrong item (I took pictures of everything to prove it) I'm offended
by the additional charge.
Needless to say, I put in a not nice rating for the vendor (no profanity,
but a low number).
In case anyone cares: Lasco Humidifier filter pads at not quite $6 each.
Package of six (because that is the only way it was listed). - - - I'm going
to call Lasco on Monday to see what they charge, and potentially buy
a second humidifier with the new filters.
P.S. to this: The Amazon process for returning an item works fine for
those items that come from Amazon. Those items that are from outside
vendors STINKS!
