Isn't that box 20 years newer than the gun? Think the yellow came after red and I've got double actions from the late 70's that came in red.

Box Looks like the correct box to me boys. It's not a flap cardboard. A little rough, but it is a box.
Looks to have a type 1 front sight, which would have the squiggly lines on the base and blade and more ramped in apperance.
Type 2 dimpled ERB this would be right on a 7XXX gun.
Trigger does look to be the thin well curved trigger.
Rear Sight Screw should have a inticator point on it.
BP looks right but har to see for sure.
Correct capped BP Latch.
Grips correct but might be wrong medallions as for they look a little shinny, I'm being picky.

Nice condition IMO $700-$750 from the pictures shown, could go higher if condition is better. Detailed pics would help.

Papers in the box?

We need the serial number. The gun appears to be a Old Model Flattop .357 from the 6XXX to 7XXX s/n range. The box lid's "cut" gives us one other clue. RENE data suggests the "cut" disappeared in the 18,XXX s/n range (give or take several hundred numbers).

It looks damn nice to me. To be certain of it's originality I'd sure want the s/n and then get the shipping date from Ruger. But, if time is of the essence and the price is right I'd not allow any dust to settle on the gun...... :roll:

Yeah, what G2 and flatgate said - kinda rare transition gun where the ER button had changed but the front sight had not. There was only a short range of a few hundred gun with that combo. I have 72xx of that type that is 99% and in its crispy mint box valued at $1200 but that might be low since the box alone is worth about $400 (non-catalog number type). Score line down the lid of your box is typical for the period "split seam" shipper that was often opened with a knife that cut too deep. That box with the wear should still be worth $250 or so. The ER button is round, you can see that in the second pic, but can't tell about the face of it - it should have a "dimple".

My 72xx gun shipped Oct '56 and I have one close to 6600 that has the early ER button type and shipped Aug '56. The front sight changed shortly after this period.
