Another weekend sitting around without a lot to do. I posted earlier this fall about a surgery I had to fuse the heel and ankle plus another joint in front of the heel and Im STILL laid up. The second joint that was fused is being stubborn and not healing like it should. Bummer! Im doing small stuff around the house and monkeying around in the reloading room but im going stir crazy! This started in september and my next appt isnt til april. If things heal on their own im good to go , but if not im looking at yet another trip to the operating room to have it more or less patched in the stubborn areas.

Too bad my remodeling job isnt finished. Besides looking at half finished projects around the house...I have way too much time to look at toys! Need to exercise some restraint so $$ is in the savings when im able to get back to the house projects!

One thing to look forward to soon is there will be a sbooting range built in the 40 acres behind my house! Im planning on 200 yards for sure , more if the lay of the land allows , plus having the shooting benches about 100 yards or so from the house. Nice and convenient! Anyone want to help clear some brush?? :P

if it will make you feel better...ive been working on my home for 15 years and im still not done.
i wish i had a broken leg so i had an excuse not to work.
lol.

now excuse me, i must go out and split wood for tonites fire.

Well, with my current back/nerve problem, all I can do is offer to send you some matches to help clear that brush. With some carefully placed nets, you might be able to harvest some TASTY bunny rabbits for a celebration after the range is cleared.

Ive been doing some reading. And bobski,im 2 1/2 years into it sooo im almost done?? Lol Im also glad i had plenty of firewood stacked before my surgery!

Colonialgirl , I read your post and suffered a similar issue years ago. It happens when you get bounced around all day in heavy equipment. Mine was completely numb instead of pain. It took a months worth of visits before the chiroprctor could get my lower back to pop loose. Sounded like a sledge hitting a log when it finally let loose! Hang in there!

Time to catch up on your reading. I just discovered Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels and am really enjoying them.
I found his books at the lending library at the hospital in Barrow, Alaska. Great reads! Hmm, Kansas, I think I'll have to pass on clearing brush right now.

Its not too bad here weather wise right now gramps. Id be out doing it now if inwas able. It could be worse...I could be putting a range on the old farm in Wi! But the kansas brush is some pretty wooly stuff so its a toss up...:)

Junkie....If you would be willing to feeds us and let us camp, I could pick up Gramps in Woodbury and we could get some brush moved for ya.

There's an offer a fella can't refuse! Dont forget a pile of toys and ammo to break the range in!

From what I have seen of Kansas, the brush can't be too bad. Sincerely wish I could get out there and help you, I like that part of the country and could use some fresh air and different scenery for a few days (weeks,,,months!)

Chuck, the eastern part im in has some pretty knarly areas! Im used to beating down the thorny brush where i grew up in wisconsin but we never had things like locust trees with 4" spikes! Some of the areas I hunt here are so thick and full of thorns that I once crawled about 200 yards through some instead of backtracking who knows how far to go around...darn near trashed a good hunting jacket and it about trashed me! Once in a while you gotta give blood to the deer hunting gods though!

Hope it heals for you. I've had 3 surgeries this past yr for ankle fusion . Last one was Dec 12th , I've got 10 small rods thru my lower leg & foot, with halos connected, can't do anything because of the swelling. Sure does suck

Thank you. Im on my 3rd as well. Got my fingers crossed that I wont need a 4th. Im also on my 2nd set of hardware. The last surgery involved a lot of reshaping the heel bone , carving out the bad spot , and a bone graft to fill the void in. All in all , I think it feels better than before the last surgery so I think Im headed in the right direction. Here's what it looks like now. Maybe we could all throw a buck into the kitty and have a guess at screw size and thread pitch!

The sort of rectangular , lighter colored area high on the heel bone is where the bone graft was done. The donor bone came from my pelvis via a big hole in my lower back...
