That is not a nice Lightweight!!!!! THAT IS A GREAT LIGHTWEIGHT!!!!! look at the cylinder, little to almost no chipping. Look at the barrel. Most lightweight that I have seen will have very light bluing on the barrel, even the mint ones the bluing is very light blue and is one of the first thing to wear and start to turn that rust color that most used Lightweight have. That barrel looks great, and still looks blue. That gun and a box and paperwork is what every serious Ruger collector is looking for. A Lightweight in that shape is as hard to find as the box. Thanks for sharing.

Gary! I see a little bit of green on that box where most of those Lightweight boxes have black. That little bit of green is what made that variation go to $2000 on E-bay just for the box. :wink: That is easily a $3000 +++++ package. Thanks for showing it with it's box.

You noticed that I had a few "+" added to that $3000 price tag. The package that you have and the one that Gary has just don't come up for sale very often. Mint Lightweights with the boxes are one of the hardest Rugers to find. And I might add they are one of the prettiest packages to find. Nothing looks as good as a Mint Lightweight with a green wreath box. :wink: :wink: :wink:

Just an FYI - @ the Reno show there is a LW steel cylinder gun that is about 80% with a cut/notched front site - price is $1695. Has other Rugers that are marked high. Non boxed .44 Flattop $2550 (did have nice walnuts) - seemed like most other Rugers were priced real high in the show. I know asking/getting are 2 different beasts but have things changed that much?

I think there's a certain amount of wishful thinking going on. We've seen asking prices going up lately, but I'm not sure they are selling. Probably a matter of "Hey, why not start out high? I can always come down, and ya just never know when 'that guy' might walk by."

I was mistaken. The LWSC was marked $1950 :shock: - this guy has a bunch of Rugers - all priced high (at least from what I see them trading for here) - I did get a nice pair of XR3 Walnuts from him.

Those are two superb LWs. As most know those early Rugers came with not just any walnut but actual imported Italian walnut.
And occasionally with Goncalo Alves. I would hazard to say your two gorgeous pair may be just that.

I suggest that while those "special" grip sets exist, they are the very exception to the rule. After more than 55 years in the "Ruger Harness", my perspective is that WBR ordered a relatively small order of the "special" Italian panels. They were part of the 44 FT line and were sporadically present on the RSSE offerings spread across a fairly broad timeline. Those shown by our friend are very very exceptional, to say the least. Just sayin'........OOMV......... 8)
