American Sniper has been nominated for a best picture oscar and Bradley Cooper earned a nomination for best actor.
I'm stoked to see this flick. Going with some bodies next week.

Last year 12 Years a Slave won best picture and one of the actresses won best Supporting Actress.

This year because the lead actor in Selma and the director of Selma did not get a nomination, the Oscars are "unfair."

I promise, I have nothing against any of my fellow Americans. But it seems that the past sins of our long gone forefathers must be paid for with our blood and our ethics. It seems we just can't let bygones be gone and all live together as Equals

If I was GOD, I would change this world and made sure that all men were free and no man would have left Africa excepting those who wanted to leave Africa and then those who did leave, left as free men, unencumbered by any prejudices or ill feelings. But I can't. Neither can anyone else. What happened, happened, and until we can leave it and let it die, we will never have peace.

buddy of mine saw it last week somewhere... he was very very impressed with the movie, said its one of the best movies he can remember seeing.


I have been looking forward to the movie since seeing the previews months ago.

Louis Zamperini was one of America's greatest heroes. An Olympic runner and WWII POW, his life story was written by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Laura Hillenbrand (author of "Seabiscuit") and the book "Unbroken", released in November, 2010.

Lucky Louis Zamperini, Olympic hero, WWII bombardier, plane crash survivor, POW, and survivor of post-war turmoil was one of the last of the greatest generations.

Saw Unbroken and it was a bitter pill to swallow seeing the what that mad had to suffer through. Louie was courageous beyond courageous.

I saw the movie last night and it was "intense". I read the book last year and the movie followed the book very well. The theater was full with a mix of young and older folks. There are many military service members here in the greater Anchorage area (JBER base is Army and Air Force combined).
When the movie ended there wasn't a word spoken as the theater emptied.

I have the book "Sniper"and intend to see the movie as well as "Fury" with Brad Pitt. I'll be waiting 'til they hit the Wallyworld discount bin though. I don't do movie houses anymore...

Me and the wife went to see it yesterday. It is truly a awesome movie, and was very faithful to the book. When the credits started rolling, only two people got up and left, everyone else sat until the movie was truly over, and my wife was in tears. Might have teared up a little myself. Chris Kyle is truly an American hero.

Saw the movie Sunday night with the wife. Theater was full, mostly mature people (35 and up). Quiet as a cemetery as we all filed out. Like myself, I think everyone was saying a silent thank you and God bless.

The vast majority of criticism I've seen about the film, is what I would categorize as nit-picking. These criticisms originate from film critics who get paid to criticize everything, and can be counted on to spew forth their opinions of the director, actors, content or whatever else will get them some column inches in some hoolywood rag.
