Any idea where I can get an alloy housing for a ss vaquero that would be in silver/raw condition?

I know it won't match the polished finish to a T, but something close.

Many folks just strip off the finish off the blued ones. There are a few different ways. I've never done it,, but I'm sure someone will come along & tell ya how. I do know you can scotchbrite it with elbow grease. There are some chemical things that can strip one as well.

Different weights of sand paper (I used 120 then 220, 400 wet/dry) and a buffing wheel.

JW,

That on turned out really nice.

What chemicals?

Did you have any problems rounding off the edges with sand paper?

Jason

No chemicals, just some buffing compound on the buffing wheel. I tried to stay away from the edges that seated up next to the frame to keep the edges sharp and had no problems. There was some roughness on the upper part of the housing that needed more work (kind of in the indentation), but the coating comes off easy.
