I know it sounds silly to wheel gun pros, but it's a real question. The only revolvers I own could not be used to answer it. In old westerns ( as well as "Expendables" movies") you see gunfighters quick shooting revolvers with hammer slaps. Is this actually possible, and if only with some guns, which?

See the thread I posted in Lounge titled Bob Munden.
I think that’s what most people think of.
Believe gun has to be modified.

There’s a video in that thread talking about the mods.

PS …. If you don’t know you gotta ask so no, not a dumb question.

Hitman! Thank you! Yes, they have to be modified, but that amazing video gives step by step training on how to do it. VERY cool. I may buy a larger revolver- used- and give it a try. Mine are physically too small. Appreciate the help!

Are you talking about fanning? If so, you have to hold the trigger back with the gun hand, and fan the hammer with the other.
Or, tape the trigger back, then thumb the hammer back with the gun hand and release. In both ways there is no aiming.

I heard 'somewhere' that a few of the old time gunfighters actually modified their single actions by REMOVING the trigger and only firing by slapping. I don't think it's legal in NY anymore.

J.
I believe that was referred to as a "Slip Gun".
Not so much for fanning, more about pull the hammer back then let it slip off the thumb.
They could shoot fast and still pretty much aim.
