A stainless 3 screw??

The serial # indicates production in 1969. It looks like a blued alloy steel gun polished out in the white. The hammer, trigger and cyl pin certainly don't look like stainless.

Just got done looking at that listing myself. Had me going back through the RENE reference to make sure I wasn't crazy! 8)
I thought like you that its a gun in the "white" :wink: . But still makes one heart flutter. :wink: :wink:

It looks like a plated gun to me! Ruger did not build a Stainless gun for about 5 years after that gun was built! J/S

Interesting, wish there were more photos, does the "2" in the "20-" look different from the "22" in the "22616", dash placement does not look right either, or is it my old eyes :shock:

Be interesting to see what it would letter as.

The '2' is different. But I don't think that is significant. the grip frame looks like polished aluminum and has more gloss than the rest of the polished gun. The hammer, trigger and cyl pin do not match and don't look polished at all.

Yeah...agree. Good thing they are crappy fakers because with some previous education I've learned some extra tricks on polish. The pin is the easiest thing to get shiny. Chuck it in a cordless drill and spin some 400 on it then put in on the polisher. DONE. The hammer and trigger shoe are obviously not stainless. Plus there are no stainless Old Models....or at least any that would be for sale there, right?

Aluminum is easier to get hot shiny than steel but the color and depth of de-blued steel turned polished is a lot more dramatic.

the gun looks like its in the white and polished to me and trust me I am pretty good with plated Rugers. here is a picture of one I used to own polished and then plated.

How about a brushed nickel finish, it looks very similar to that?
