A Little Rhapsody

Seeing as we've been doing a bit of music on this here forum, I thought I would post this.
It's pure Americana, gorgeously performed. Written by someone who loved this country and the sounds of its cities.
I first heard this when I was in elementary school, nine years old, and I've loved it ever since.



I hope that somewhere Mr. Gershwin is looking down and smiling...

I think I'm developing a crush on Khatia Buniatshvili...

Possibly the greatest composition, ever!

This gal was tremendous, as was the orchestra and Director.

Every time I hear Rhapsody in Blue, I hear something I've not heard before. This song, and especially this performance, touches me to the core.

We used to have "Jazz Tracks" on the local rock station on weekend nights. Keiko Matsui got played a lot. I really enjoy her music.

I liked it. Apparently, I have heard excerpts from this before but never the whole thing. I remember when I was young I briefly took piano lessons. It didn't last long as I hated to practice. Later on I was in band. I was never really good, again because I hated to practice.

I say that to say I have great respect for these people. It takes a lot of work to hone one's skills to that level. The pianist was wonderful.

Well, I tried it, but this just isn't my type of music at all.

At first I thought the guy just to the left (our left) of the clarinetist at :45 was Dwight Shroot.

And the trumpeter at 1:29--we got yelled at in JHS and HS band for putting our fingers on the keys like that. To this day, just seeing it STILL made me wince--although obviously it works well for HIM.
