Back in the early 80s that collection of serial number guns #4 were for sale at I think, $70,000.00. The person selling them had 3 consecutive RSSEs for $10,000. As it was. I had neither one of the amounts. I tried to purchase the three Engraved Single-sixes but couldn't come up with $10,000. 35 years ago that was a lot of money as you could buy a new 4X4 pickup for that amount. As for the $70,000, there was no way I could come up with that.

That #500004 is an interesting gun! The only "subscriber" who is known to have received their number in the Super Single-Six was Fred Davis, Jr. and his #500051. I think Fred Davis, Jr. had a very close tie with somebody there at the factory but have never been able to prove that, or who the individual might have been (Ed Nolan possibily, because both frequented the mid-1950's NRA shows...Nolan starting by at least 1957).
