A callout for Ruger customer service

After a range session yesterday I field stripped and cleaned my P95, my favorite nightstand gun for the past 8 years. When I started to reassemble it, I noticed the recoil spring collar retainer on the end of the rod was missing, the collar was laying on the table and the springs were sliding off the rod. Still don't know what happed to the retainer or when--there were no parts flying off when I disassembled the pistol. I called Ruger this morning and a young lady named Amanda quickly answered the phone. I told her what I needed and she asked if I needed any other parts. I told her I might as well get another spring collar as well, just in case. She took down my information and said, "We'll have those parts in the mail tomorrow, no charge."

I know there have been some legitimate beefs (and maybe some not so legitimate) with Ruger from reading posts here on the forum, and just wanted everyone to know what a great experience I just had with customer service. I spent last night searching the internet for the part just in case it was wasn't available from Ruger and had no luck at all, unless I wanted to buy a parts kit for $175. So I'm really grateful to Ruger. The P95 has had somewhere between 2,000 to 2,500 rounds through it since I bought it new without a single malfunction.

You may even receive a t shirt and cap! I needed a new ERH for my SBH. A tech sent me free, ejection rod cover screws and apparel

Amanda did the same thing for me a few months back.... the retaining ring just disappeared.... I also thought I had lost the collar too.... but when I went to put the slide back on with rod and new retaining ring and collar it would not fit... I discovered the collar behind the retaining ring was still in the end of the slide...

Glad to hear they did you right, Bkat. Maybe it's something that should be replaced at a set interval.

I learned from my internet search that it's not an uncommon problem. Some people said their gun runs just fine without it, but I'd prefer to have it the way it was designed.

I had hoped that's where I would find the retaining ring but no such luck.

I have around 5000+ rounds through my my KP95DC and it is still a top notch shooter, Guess I either got lucky or just standard Ruger quality
