I am wanting to put one of the B-Square mounts on that converts it from the ruger rings to standard Weaver base. I was wondering if anyone had used one of these and if so how it worked out. This gives me alot more options as far as mounting optics as I want to put a red dot or holo sight on it for short rage deer hunting. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Reno

It is hard to beat the Ruger rings in 1" or 30mm. I put a 1" Millet Red Dot on both a 96/44 and a Deerfield without any problems. The B-square mount looks like a good versatile system. I could not find one on a rifle but I know some have been use on "Hunter" handguns with good luck. I seem to remember a note to not over-tighten the mounting screws. :D :D

I found this thread with a similar unit on a handgun

I have this one on a 96/44 with a red dot. Don't know how it compares to the B square, but it like all of weigand mounts is very high quality. Plus it is ten bucks cheaper and ships free.

Or, if you don't want a full-rail, you can get the Ruger-to-Weaver adapter bases:
