8-Shot SP101 Range Report, Pic

Right then!

Managed to get out to the range for a bit on Sunday.

15 yard 8-shot, off hand group. Fed Auto-Match ammo. The gun handles excellent. The front sight is a help to older eyes. The crispness of the trigger makes it feel lighter then the actual weight of pull. The hammer edges are sharp!

A grapefruit sized rock at 30 yards was easy pry for the 101. 8)

I went to the Silly-Wet range and toppled over some iron out to 100 yards.

Did I mention this is the very first 8-shot SP101 to arrive in Lubbock, Texas? :wink:

I guess I'll have to go to my local dealer and see what he has available.
Maybe I can find something in the back of the safe he would be willing to deal for. What is the barrel length on that beauty? I prefer the shorter ones, they just seem to handle better for me. Thanks, Mike

A dirty gun is a sign of a happy owner! I'm waiting for mine. I happened into my dealer a few weeks ago and he said he ordered 3 and put my name on the first one. I simply said, "good work." He knows by now I'm kind of into the Rugers.

I didn't 'find' it! I had asked my dealer back around late July when the G&A article came out. he looked on his wholesalers site and didn't see it. He called his salesman @ the wholesaler. The salesman acknowlledged they were due in, but had no date.

The day of introduction, I was on my iPhone @ work. A fellow on RFc posted a G-Broker dealer had 10 up for auction. Another fellow posted that it had appeared on the Ruger site that AM.

@ lunchtime I went to to my dealer. He checked the wholesale site and The SP101 8-Shot was there w/ a SKU #. He called the salesman. The salesman told him his computer didn't show any available to ship yet.

@ lunchtime the next day, the SP101 8-shot was there for me! The salesman called my dealer back the prevoius afternoon, said his computer now showed guns available. The salesman put one in the order he was shipping to my dealer that day.

My dealer doesn't have any right now. He has them on order, but they are allocated right now. Me getting the very first one in Lubbock was a lucky fluke. :wink:
