Hello,

Today I am starting to reload for my No.1 A model in 7.x57.

I am using Lee dies and they came with #2 shell holder.

I was working my way through the 65 pieces of brass when I had a piece of brass that would not slide into the shell holder.

I take a look at the head stamp and it is Hornady.

As I work through the rest I find 8 more that will not seat in the shell holder.

All Hornady.....

What gives?

I agree!

In my supply of stuff I found a, (still in the package) RCBS shell holder #3 09203 that is clearly labeled 7X57 Mauser. The Hornady brass will not seat.

I opened up my Lee 6.5X55 dies and found a shell holder labeled #3 and it works. :?

Only the Hornady brass is doing this.

On close inspection it appears that the extraction groove is shaped differently on the Hornady brass.

Hi, Bill

Dunno if you already have enough brass in that caliber, but if you don't, Graf's seems to have some PRVI in stock right now at a reasonable price (they also show Remington at a rather high one, and Norma and Nosler at what I'd consider an outrageous tariff!) That's the Serbian stuff. I've used it in a couple of milsurp calibers, and while it's not the prettiest stuff out there, it's worked quite nicely so far.
