It's crazy to think anyone on a gun forum hasn't heard of Ranch Dog or his line of molds or either of his forums. Nothing out of spec but .303 British, .357 magnum, and .30 Carbine have to be pushed to get any performance for hunting as an example. Not a celebrity just a pilot retired from commercial flying that made himself very known in the world of reloading on his south Texas ranch and on his forums. Lee Precision made and sold his mold designs and now NOE makes copies, so does Accurate and Arsenal. You sure made up a whole bunch about someone you never heard of living under your rock. Not sure I have seen over-loads and he is famous for how meticulous his data is. Guessing people here only frequent this forum and not reloading forums. The .30-30 WIN bullets in my avatar were cast from a Ranch Dog mold. Loads on the internet are published loads and the books are no better. They don't even agree with each other. But it's no matter as his only guide was SAAMI.

Ok,, I guess according to YOUR world,, I am crazy & live under a rock.
But you are correct about one thing. I've never been to ANY reloading forums. Yes,, I freely admit to NOT being a "live by my internet or computer" type of person. No,, I do NOT use my computer as the tool for important data like reloading information. never have.
Yes,, I have a large library of actual manuals,, and I READ the books. I study the material. And yes,, I know that manuals can differ from each other. That's why I STUDY the way each publisher of these manuals gets their data. An actual firearm or a Universal Receiver? Types of bullets. Types of primers. Etc.
And then I start at the lower end of the data,, using the data that matches as closely as possible to MY gun, My components etc.
I never use any internet data for any caliber I'm handloading for. Even when I trust the person putting it out there immensely. Example; David Bradshaw,, & Lee Martin developed the "Bradshaw/Martin" cast bullet. They tested it a lot before telling folks about it. And they shared their load data. I did NOT accept it as the load I'd try. I tested a lot of loads, including their load.
I discovered,, ON MY OWN,, and in MY gun,, that it did work. But I didn't automatically accept their info as gospel.
And I never offer ANY of my load data to anyone. In person or on the internet.
So,, Yes,, I guess I live under a rock. I'm crazy too for not knowing your GOD in reloading (Ranch Dog)!
But I can say that with 48 years of handloading, (LONG before the internet was around), casting, experimenting, hunting & competition,, I've got actual experience for my world. And I've never had a gun blow up, had any injuries, or other things that have popped up in other people's lives.
I've handloaded well over 3/4 of a million rounds of ammo in my time. I guess my actual decades of experience aren't worth anything when compared to internet celebrities.
And just to clarify things,, I also used to be amazed that Elmer Keith would push stuff & blew up several guns in his quests for "something else." When younger, I would read his stuff,, but never pushed things like he did. And I never used his reloading data without doing my own tests.
Maybe Ranch Dog does use the SAMMI Specs. Maybe he does have access to the expensive pressure testing equipment that other companies have access to. Heck,, I used to read Rick Jamison's articles,, & was amazed that he had a barrel pressure testing set-up. But to use it,, he had to alter the barrel by polishing it to bare metal to attach his electronic sensor. But even reading his stuff,, I'd always test stuff myself,, by al;ways starting low & working up.
So, again,, I'll admit I'm crazy,, (according to your definition, which, BTW,, I consider an insult,) because I do NOT know who Ranch Dog is or that I never have been to any reloading internet places.

I've never heard of that guy, either. But, now that I know that such a person exists, I feel a void in my life, a sudden sadness, an emptiness that will never be satisfied because he's deleted it all

Looks like there are a lot of "crazy" folks....
I reload but do not load naked lead, a.k.a. cast. I've never shopped for bullet molds, period. I guess that also makes me "crazy"
I have never consulted any you tube bloggers for load data either. Strike two?
It is funny how a person can have such a hard core fan, and yet be unheard of by so many others. Crazy?

Commenting on someone's personality and tendencies as a human after admitting to have never heard of the person is asinine and is the greater insult by far.
Michael R. (Ranch Dog) has no YouTube channel I know of, at least it's not what he is well known for. That was made up here. Not sure where that came from but it's fabricated like the opinions of people commenters are ignorant of. If you have not learned to reload lead I can see the issue. I greatly underestimated the percentage of population who only half or quarter reload. No one wanted to take over his internet presence including me so it's all gone. That's a different story. But acting like it doesn't exist merely because you don't reload cast bullets or visit those forums is silly. Google is flooded with references but so are forums like Cast Boolits and the main Marlin forum. There's a couple of his molds on eBay for reference. Stop harping on the fact you haven't heard of the guy as that doesn't change the fact he proved Starline brass is not what it seems in certain cases. No, a 10K PSI .38 special load is not going to split a case ...probably

I bought 300. Wish I'd bought more. I will rectify that. I did hit the "alert me" button to let me know when they get more of the other calibers that I am chasing as well.

hmmm...I'm gonna have to look up 45 cowboy special. I have def been living under a rock as I have never heard of that. Then again, I've never reloaded a single round before. Not yet anyways. I now have all of the equipment needed to begin loading my favorite calibers. Even a few books on the subject. Bought a gorgeous signed copy of Cast Bullets by - Col. E. H. Harrison. I am excited to learn more on the subject, and start loading my own.

I just ordered 30-06 starline brass from Bass Pro shop / Cabellas. Only .02 more per casing than buying directly from Starline after my 10% off. Which I forgot to add, but they'll fix that when I pick it up from the store.
Now to find a good place to order powder from I have been striking out on finding a good deal on IMR 4227 powder. Also looking for a good supplier of 41 mag bullets. I am brand new to this reloading thing, so baby steps.

I'm currently trying to rebuild my stockpile of the .357 Maxi Bradshaw/Martin bullets. After that,, I'll be casting some .41's as my supply of those is also low.
Casting is just another step in the journey!

I cast my 41mag bullets but I have used berrys or xtreme plated. I would guess Missouri has some 41. I was looking for some 45 swc and they had what I wanted since I don't have a mold. Geez those things went up

Miwall is almost always the best place to get powder. They currently are second on a 1#. They are 1c higher than the unknown (to me) lowest price place. And on the 8# they are $47.66 less than the next closest. IMR 4227 is on special with them now, buy 6.6# get 1.4# for no extra charge. (Based on 1#/8# prices) I look at AmmoSeek to check powder prices then go to Miwall and buy as they are always lowest or close to it and either way I like them. Excellent CS. So powder/primers come from Miwall, bullets from Missouri Bullet Co and Starline brass from Midway with their discount and free shipping. YMWV
