An I missing something here? There is a standard 77/44 on GB right now and the bid is 1500! Wtf?

Plus I've never seen much need got a handgun caliber bolt gun. Almost as bad as a single shot 22lr

I must be missing something as I surely can't see why anyone would pay $1,500 for that particular rifle.

Here is one at Davidson's 'new' for $939 list and can be had for $733 including taxes and fees.

Perhaps because it is an early specimen and in the 50th anniversary box? Or the bidders do not realize that Ruger has reintroduced this exact model #07401 in the last few weeks, I.e. Blue and walnut? Otherwise, this is a mystery to me...

I have one if anyone wants to buy for $1500.00...I will even ship it for free!!

Had a quote from a local gun shop the other day, stainless steel and black synthetic stock, $760 plus tax, and plenty to be had. Granted, these don't have a walnut stock, but for $1500 you could literally buy two of them.

Lipsey's has them in stock as well and dealer cost is well under half of $1500, actually one could get 2 for $1500 and have a chuck of change left over. Bob!

Auctions are strange. People get all in a heat, bidding war and all. They forget that they shouldn't pay more than an object is worth. OTOH maybe it is worth that to them?

There is more justification these days as a couple of formerly "Shotgun Only" states now allow "straight wall cartridge case" ammunition chambered in rifles. The most popular is the 45-70 but a .44 Mag also qualifies.

a few weeks ago I saw the 77/357 for the same price. Now that they are back out I will sell mine for that. LOL
I paid 550 nib for mine.
