7.5 vaquero

No longer offered by Ruger.
I have both an (original) Vaquero (44-40 (plus a 44 mag. cylinder that interchanges)) and a New Vaquero (.45 LC) both in stainless with the 7 1/2" barrel.
I like the New Vaquero for the reverse indexing and the handier size.
I'm more of a collector than a shooter.

You don't see many of the 7-1/2" Ruger Vaqueros around. I have a couple of original Vaqueros with 7-1/2" barrels in .44 magnum. The Bisley started out with a 4-5/8" barrel and I had it swapped out with a 7-1/2" tube:

And I have a pair of stainless NV's in .45 Colt:

I bought a pair of NV 7 1/2" .45's last September for CAS. So far I have just plinked targets with mine. Will start shooting CAS with them next month. I have been shooting 4 5/8" 45's up untill now. Cant wait for good weather again!

I bought this one a couple years ago to cut it down, and the 5.5" with it, to a pair of 3" Birdshead snubbies. I have a collection of stainless 44mag vaqueros, but hadn't shot the 7.5" models in years, but I test fired this one, and just can't bring myself to cut it down now. It's heavy and long, for sure, but it shoots very straight! I load 300grn XTP's to cylinder length (second cannelure) over an over book charge of W296, and this 7.5" barrel gets a LOT out of that powder!

I sure like all my 7.5 inch guns, nothing better. Good clean ones are getting harder to fine though in 45 or 44.
