Traded into one the other day and finally got it regulated using 30 grains of XMP 5744 and a 505 grain bullet. Both barrels will break clay pigeons sitting in the sand at 80 yards. Sounds wonderful and it is except for the unburned powder that falls into action or on the flats. It is so well-made a single piece (grain) will not allow it to lock up. What other powder would you recommend that burns cleaner and does not leave unburned grains behind?
TIA Charlie

Wow, I don't know the answer to your question, but would you post a picture of that rifle? What kind is it? Sounds pretty fun to shoot.

Thanks for the suggestions and comments. No I am not using magnum priners just Winchester Large Rifle....I'll work on a picture.

50/70 is a blackpowder cartridge. I shoot about 63-65gr black powder compressed about 1/4" with a card wad over the powder and bees waz/crisco mix for bullet lube.

believe it or not, you won't have unburned powder grains. Some fouling that pushes out the bore quite easily.

Your barrels should be regulated for this type of a load since that is what it was made to shoot.

Sounds like a nice gun. Photos?
