Did this gun ever come in a 45 and 5.5" barrel?

First, I'm no expert on the NM's so I went to the RENE guide. I could not find a referrence to a 45 Colt Bisley in 5.5" and blued like you asked. I did find it in 7-1/2" though.

I had one, but it had been professionally cut back to 5.5". I spoke with Chet of RENE fame and he had never heard of one. I got a letter from Ruger confirming that mine left the factory with a 7.5" barrel.

Thanks for the replies. I want a 454 BFR or FA but no matter how i try i can not get past the stainless...

I may just go with what i had originally thought about and get a 44 spl in 4 5/8". Love em.

No factory 5.5" blued. Of course Acusport offered the stainless version. Your best bet is to buy a 7.5" Bisley and have the barrel cut.

Is it you can't get past the stainless or that you want a polished blue? There are finishes for stainless that don't look like stainless.

Well Joe there is 2 ways to look at it. A blued gun will loose the blue a stainless steel gun is stainless all the way through. Stainless steal will rust. I prefer blued guns but wouldn't not pass up one I wanted that was stainless. But you know I'm crazy and put the rubber baby buggy bumpers on all my single actions because they are more serviceable in my mind. They don't chip ,crack or loose their finish in adverce condition's like wood does.
