Have a new blackhawk 44 special in the mail. I will reload but my problem is I have several hundred 44 mag brass and no 44 special. Has anyone cut the 44 mag down to 44 special? If so, how?? It seems like an awful lot of trimming.

You can do it with any case trimmer. You just set it for the trim to length for 44 special. I would not do it unless you have a power trimmer. It you do trim 44 mag work up slowly to max 44 special loads as your case capacity may be a little less than actual 44 special brass. I would put a ad in the classifieds here to try and trade your brass for 44 special.

I could send you a 100 pieces of once fired 44 special brass (MagTech) if you want. Just PM me with your mailing address I will get them right out. Think of it as a New Year's, new member, Karma. Let's save those finger tips for shooting not trimming brass. :D :D

Thats a nice offer from Jimbo. The brass is not that hard to find and to me not worth the trouble to trim the .44 mag.

I cut down a bunch of 44 magnum casings when you couldn't get 44 special brass 'way back when. Check out the auctions on gunbroker and buy either new or used 44 special brass.

REMEMBER that this is election year and what happened four years ago. I don't see how HE can be re-elected, but them folks from Chicago know how to fine tune an election! You don't want to be caught short on powder, primers or brass.

I have cut hundreds of .44mag down to .44spl with great results. I did it because I could get mag brass for half of what spl cost.
