For the folks that work at a gun shop or a hold FFL, when you get a revolver in with multiple/conversion cylinders, say 45 Colt with a 45 Auto cylinder, how do you record the caliber on the 4473 and in yor bound books?

Kinda same for a 22 LR/22 WMR gun.

Thanks!

45 Colt and 45 ACP are both 45 caliber, as 22LR and 22WMR are 22 caliber, no?

Does 4473 ask for the specific chambering?

The caliber stamped on the frame/barrel must be stated in the acquisition and deposition book as well as in the box marked cal/guage in the form 4473.

I would list both calibers in my A&D book and on the 4473. When recording an AR lower receiver I show 223/5.56 if that's on the lower. Many are stamped multi-caliber and then I list it that way. My personal .45 Redhawk shoots .45 ACP, 45 Gap, 45 Win Mag, 45 Colt, 45 Schofield, and probably 455 Webley, although I have not tried them. BTW, there is a new 4473 form that goes into effect on the 16th. Bob!!

Thanks for the replies, going to go with the "What is marked on the firearm" concept, even if at times it seems a bit odd (what is marked).
