.38 special Norma brass. Worth anything?

Is there any value in 1960s or maybe 70s Norma Brass in .38 special? I understand Norma quit importing brass for handguns years ago. I got several boxes of virgin brass in the old woodgrain looking vintage cardboard boxes. If it's not worth anything I'll just load it into my next run of .38 ammo. I got it from a friend's estate. I think he bought it to run in one of the old target autos that was made to load . 38 wadcutters. I doubt it's worth any more than regular Federal or something but thought I'd check before using it.

Norma brass is a bit more desirable than other brands of brass except maybe Lapua. I'd suggest you maybe offer it to someone in the classifieds to see!

I don't know if it has any special "collector" value but it should be perfectly good to load and shoot.

Yep. Put it in the Classifieds with a price you'd accept and see what happens. Ya never know.

I've been exposed to cartridge collecting, and from my experience, empty brass, either once fired or brand new unprimed, has no collector value unless a very rare cartridge. But to a reloader, that stuff is gold..........................

Right Bob that's what I was thinking. But I have a lot of .38 and this stuff has gone many years unused. I just have to throw away the boxes and then find out someone wanted them. So I thought I'd better check first.

Just load and shoot it. By the time you haul it to ups and pay shipping etc it could hardly be worth your time for a couple boxs. But then again, I guess thats why I aint rich.

A while back I bought some Herter's 7x57 brass made in Sweden. I suspected it might be made by Norma but it was not until about a year ago I got conformation. It's Norma brass with Herter's headstamp. I'm still on the fence about loading it up. Maybe if I can find some proper 175 gr. round nose I might do it. Be just about perfect for an old timey hunt using a proper Mauser rifle. :mrgreen:

Is Norma Brass just the name of the manufacturer or is that special cartridge for 38's?

It's brass which actually is an expensive metal.... I don't reload but I'm collecting some for a friend who plans to melt it down to do some special molded items....

Me, i would keep at least one box of it, things like that make a good addition to a display area in a gun cabinet, reloading area, etc.

I don't know about value but I have acquired a box of it in 38 SPL along the way, probably the same way (estate sale).

From what I remember, the color was a little more reddish in color rather than the shiny golden color most brass is today.

Load it or sell it on Classifieds. It is good brass.

Norma was and or may still be the Weatherby supplier for their brass in empty and loaded ammo. I say that because it was in the 1970s. Lost track of current stuff.
