I went and shot it tonight. And my .300 Win Mag M77 Hawkeye. Oh yeah, and the 10/22. Didn't have any 9mm or I would've shot the SR9.

I love the recoil of my little revolver. It's such great stress relief. lol Even off-handed. It's so much fun.

CanonLyles,

As a fellow owner of a SP101....
Yer describing the " It's such great stress relief. lol Even off-handed. "

Cracked me up! ....Even though heavier than most, weight sucks up some recoil, most complain about it...lol.

If can ask you....
Barrel length(not as important as most think, recoil wise) and the load firing?

Something tells me, yer one of those guys that LIKE RECOIL!

Ohhh, I keep mine loaded with FULL BORE 125 grain .357 rounds....
But never considered them..."great stress relief"...

Well, I used to have an SP101 , 3"bbl. One fine day my wife tried it. Now, I don't have any.

GhosT, it's the 2 1/4" bbl with factory CTC grips. I was shooting 125 gr. Remington JSP. And, yes I love recoil. LOL. I love this "little" gun.
Contender knows what I mean. HAHA I'm waiting for the LCR in .357 to become more available. I'm excited about that little booger.

Some guys lift weights, some guys work over a punching bag, some guys build little boats; I go out to the farm and plink with whatever I have ammo for at the time. I have been neglecting the .22's for a while and the SR9. They don't have the recoil but they are fun.

I'm pretty lucky that I have access to farm land that's just 15 miles out of town.

Do you guys have the SP101 with or without the hammer? I have the 2 1/4" hammerless. Kind of wish I had got the one with the hammer. The hammerless has such a long trigger pull.

CannonLyles,I have both of them. The same Ruger Sp101 in the 2.25 inch barre; and the .357 Ruger LCR revolver. All I have to say about the LCR is NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEE. I love the recoil YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rich642z

Your loss,CanonLyles. Dont get to jealous now. OWCHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. rich642z. By the way,I took the LCR .357 out to the range today[indoor] and everybody there was amazed how good it shot and the recoil wasnt bad at all. And,,,,,,,, to make you more jealous, I shot 15 rounds one handed with the .357. And,again I say NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I can relate.
I considered the hammerless version when chose mine.
I get why you picked the HAMMERLESS version...more pocket friendly...

But yeah...I way prefer my DA SP101 over the DAO version.

If you find yerself in a bad situation...and not toe to toe with a bad guy...

First off... Cocking that gun might diffuse the situation,no smart bad guy hangs around with a gun cocked and aimed at him....

Second, if ,god forbid need to fire, the single action trigger pull is more accurrate ,even if in a stressful situation...

If yer "TOE TO TOE" you got the double action option.

I've seen UNLIMITED DAO FANS POSTS!
And KUDOS to those that use them well.
I just prefer two options!

If you buy an SP101 DAO, you truly have a DAO. The hammer will not 'lock' back in the SA mode if you manually try to cock it single action.

If you buy a DA and 'bob' the hammer, it retains both DA/SA capabilities.
