.327 Fed Mag BH Accuracy?

Has anyone had difficulty with the .327 FM BH and jacketed bullets? I was having a pretty good day at the range until I picked up my BH and started shooting it. All over the (large) target at 25 yards with jacketed ammo loaded in virgin brass by a reputable commercial reloader. Previously I had only shot a couple of dozen lead rounds through it, basically to function fire, but I didn't notice it being that inaccurate. Comments?

Mine is just fine. I've loaded jacketed and cast bullets. I haven't shot much factory ammo though.

Mine shoots better with cast, but the jacketed also does very well

One thing that helps me, when I can remember to do it, is that I try to open at least one eye before I jerk the trigger! :-)

Another thing to try is to get the target set up at a closer range (5 yards) so you can see how it shoots up close.

I have not been impressed with factory 327 mag loads.
Find a bullet you like and tune it to work with your gun.

My GP shoots lead very well 98g DEWC on top of AA#2 (1 1/16"@ 25yds). I use the same with Starline 32 H&R brass with the same results
It does fairly well with 115g Lasercast RNFP and Green Dot (2" and under @ 25yds).

Green Frog, When I got my GP did't have any brass so got 3 boxes of American Eagle 100 gr jacketed they did not as bad as you are describing but when I went to cast my groups got tighter

In the Jan Handguns they tried several (maybe 10) handloads from 70 to 150 grains in the NMBH and they went 3"-4" @ 25 yards. Really disappointing to me as I was thinking of getting this cal/model.

Actually, I had been doing some serious shooting with other revolvers and pistols, and was as close to dialed in as my old amphibian eyeballs ever get, so I was somewhat surprised to see worse grouping out of the BH. I was comfortable with the factory grips and with that heavy old BH frame recoil was not a problem, so I had to put it down to the gun. I do have a number of cast 100 gr bullets with graphite (or moly) coating, so maybe I can load some of those over some Green Dot and get better results. The search continues! :arrow:

I've never really shot mine with the intent on extreme accuracy just plinking, but I have always felt the 327 round was fairly accurate.

Question: why are cast bullets more accurate than jacketed? I've only shot factory jacketed ammunition in mine so far.

Kevin I don't know but my 45 colt BH and my GP shoot cast way better than jacketed may be from sizing the cast ammo to the barrel I really don't know

My 327 BH is no tack driver, 3-4" at 25 yards with American Eagle 100 gr SP factory ammo. My handload of 3.7 gr. Clays and 115 gr RNFP (home cast from WW w/ a little tin added) is better, about 2.75-3.5". I never was much of a "group shooter" off a rest. I do almost as well off hand after I get to know a revolver pretty well.

I have loaded a few handloads with jacketed bullets but I got erratic results probably due to powder choice, not the bullets or the gun. More research is needed with this.

Haven't fired the BH or the GP in 237 Fed; just the SP101... and I can tell you this: it's an up close and personal kind of SD weapon.

Would like to see what Bowen can do with accuracy on my single six with a conversion to 327.
