A man at work recently circulated a list of firearms for sale. Included on the list is a " Ruger, Speed Six 38 spl, 3" Blued (US Marshal or Postal Inspector Contract), like new no box." Those are his words. I will be looking at it Tues. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks much.
Regards,
DB

I'd make certain it is a 3" and that it falls within the s/n range for those contract guns. Without consulting RENE I'm assuming there's a particular s/n range they fall into.

I haven't had access to Red Eagle news for many years, but at least I'll have a ruler with me.

Note everything about the gun and then post it here, we can research it for you. If it looks good, and is a fair price, get and worry about what it actually is later. If nothing else, it will be a good shooter.

We had 4" stainless speed sixs issued to us when I was a lockheed guard in california. They are a fine gun providence or not.

A 3" clean Speed Six would be atleast $500 in my area retail.
Less would be very good however.

I've never seen a (full) 3" BLUED Speed Six. I have seen stainless ones. Had one in .38spl.
I never say "never" when it comes to Ruger but I'd guess it has a 2 3/4" barrel.

IF it really is a BLUED 3" in .38 spl., please pick it up and post photos, ser. no. etc. etc. for inclusion in the next ed. of Chad's book! :D

We estimate that only about 20% - 25% were made up in .38 spl.
