3.75'' Bisley...balance

I'm new to SA revolvers, especially Rugers and am intrigued with the new 3.75'' Bisley in 45 Colt/45ACP.

Anyone have the one in 44 Magnum? How does the balance feel, with the short barrel and Bisley grip?

I think it'd be a great, as Taffin would say, a perfect packing pistol. I have larger but not the biggest hands and think the Bisley grip frame would be more comfortable and the barrel length for ease of packing.

But, I've learned the regular SA frame is far better for drawing and firing and the Bisley more for shooting, especially heavier calibers.

Very experienced with the 3.75" Super. It has become my favorite .44.

Blackhawk or Bisley grip? Individual preference. I prefer the Blackhawk grip. I have meaty hands and fingers, and cannot get all my fingers on a Blackhawk grip, so I curl my pinky below the grip. Bisley grips on the other hand, there's room for all my fingers but then requires my middle finger to be compressed against the trigger guard, which batters my middle finger. And the grip is too long to effectively curly my pinky below to give the rest of my fingers some room away from the trigger guard.

So, everything else being equal, I love the 3.75" barrel. The two grip styles...Ya just gotta try them both. If I had skinnier fingers, I would prefer the Bisley.

I no longer have any Bisley's but the following XR3-Red Blackhawk photos will help show large finger orientation on the grip, with an all finger grip, and with the curled pinky grip. On a Bisley, my middle finger is compressed against the trigger guard, without the ability of curling a pinky, as shown here.





Another thing about the Super's...The heel and toe of the grip have a habit of grinding their way into you hand and fingers. I've dehorned these spots a little, and makes for a much nicer shooting .44 magnum revolver.

I have the Bisley in .44 Mag. my only peeve is reloading. The ejection rod is terribly short, so I end up digging the empties out with my fingernail. This said, it shoots a lot better than the short barrel would suggest, and it carries very comfortably in a hip holster. It has become my go-to sidearm when hiking in the woods.

I had both the Bisley and XR3-RED versions of the 3 3/4 SBH. Sold the bisley because of the trigger guard inflicted pain, and kept the other. Replaced the XR3-RED grip with a Hunter grip and created my favorite revolver ever, my go to gun for packing, shooting and all other things we do with a small revolver with a lot of horsepower. Replaced the rear sight blade with a peep sight for even more fun. The Hunter grip is just enough longer to give ample room for my large hands making the gun comfortable to shoot. Not a lot of work to fit the frame, just a bit of filing and sanding. About 200.00 for the frame and grip panels from Brownnells. As for balance, the gun handles very comfortably and i like the feel and the quickness of the short barrel. Its a handful with cannon like loads, but i load plinker stuff with 44 mag brass for fun shooting.

The shorties do so like to dress up so. I prefer plow handles with bisley hammers.

Bisley or plow handle they all whack my middle knuckle when I shoot. Doesn't matter if they are a full size 45 Colt or the shorties. I could handle that but as I've grown older my middle finger has arthritis in the upper knuckle and second knuckle. I just try to ignore it. They are nice guns.
