If you own one of these you know how much fun it is to break down and reassemble. I bought one for Christmas and have been getting better at the process. I've seen a few YT videos on it and have downloaded the manual online. However after the last trip to the range I've had trouble from it. It disassembled fine, cleaned/oiled fine, and I THOUGHT it went together fine with no force. So here's where I am.
The piece on the rear of the grip (what you would use a paperclip on) is stuck from coming completely out. When it is folded in it puts extra pressure on the bolt for the second half of its travel. It will actually stay cocked back without locking it back. Start to unfold it the slightest amount or a little push and the bolt will go forward.
Crappy pic but that's how far it will travel.
I believe all this is because of that little piece that you have to point the gun up and down for when reassembling. I can hear it moving when the back isn't folded in (like in the pic). I've tried everything to get some kind of change. Shaking it pointed up/down mag in mag out trigger pulled/released and every combo with no difference.
What should I do? Send it to Ruger? Any light you can shed on this would be greatly appreciated.
