I've had a Mark III Hunter a number of years and am getting tired of the takedown for cleaning. I don't need another Hunter and was wondering what would be a good choice for a Mark IV? It will be used for plinking and targets. Thanks.
 
No one has bothered to respond to your thread, so I'll be the first to say that for your intended purposes, you couldn't possibly go wrong with just a plain Jane Mark IV 22/45 Model like this one...

Honestly, I don't know how much you shoot the pistol but Ruger 22 pistols generally don't require constant cleaning.
 
MK IV--which grip do you like? Blued or Stainless? Threaded barrel or not? If you don't want a Hunter model, I would buy a stainless target model. Some folks like he 22/45 light models. I have the 5.5 inch barrel blued hunter model from Talo. I like it. Also have an extra barrel 3.5 inch threaded with sights. Buy what you like.

I have every Mark version they ever made. My MK3 Hunter is my favorite.

Eons ago I took my Mk1 apart for cleaning. It didn't really need it. Ten years later I did it again just for fun. It didn't need it again.

Many people are of the same opinion that field stripping is NOT hard and usually NOT needed.

My Mk3 has never been apart. Maybe in 10 more years I'll do it just for fun.

(Of course the bbl, chamber etc are regularly cleaned, it is just not field stripped.)
