I do know of four new firearms coming from Ruger soon, three of which I have fired. I cannot disclose any information at this time, but I can assure you that I will be purchasing one of each....at least.

Good things are on the way from Ruger.

:D

I already knew the answer to disclosure! Four new ones though wow!!! Going to have to really start saving my pennies so I can add them to my collection!!! That is enough of a teaser to keep my mind wondering!

PS I love your website!

I really appreciate you reading Gunblast.com. Our readers are why we do this.
When the new products are announced, Ruger will have them in stock at distributors ready to go. This is a good idea. That way, customers are not frustrated. Also, it is good marketing from Ruger's point of view. For example, had someone read about the new SR40 and went to a gun store to buy one before it was available, the store owner would have sold him a S&W or Glock or Springfield. That is a lost sale. When the SR40 was officially announced, the guns were on dealer's shelves. This new way is frustrating to me, as I am chomping at the bit to give details on the new products. However, I gave my word, so cannot even hint at what is coming.

I think that an SP frame is much superior to a GP frame for a 22 because the SP is so similar in size to the K-frame S&W,like the model 18 or K-22, arguably the greatest 22 revolver ever made.

I hope that Ruger will use a barrel diameter suitable for the 22LR ONLY, rather than a barrel capable of handling the 22 Magnum as well. My experience with the Single Six (which has a compromise barrel, suitable for either 22LR or 22 Magnum) is that the guns tend to be more accurate in 22 Magnum, with marginal to poor accuracy in 22LR. Let us hope that the new gun is set up for 22LR ONLY.

Good FULLY adjustable sights like those used on the GP100 would make this gun shine.

I like the 3" SP101 quite a lot and I think the gun ought to be built in 3" and 5" versions. I dont see much purpose in the 6".

I hope that Ruger does NOT install a trigger lock on this gun.

During my lifetime, which is a considerable amount of time, I have found nothing in the way of a .22 cal. kit gun that is any better than the Smith J frame model 34. It is easy to carry, accurate and by any measure a quality firearm.

I have a 317 but it is not nearly as accurate as the 34 and while it IS lighter, the weight of the 4" model 34 is certainly no strain to carry.

If Ruger is going to produce a 22 caliber kit gun, the model 34 Smith is what I will be comparing it to. I hope it compares favorably. We'll see..... 8)

Mr Quinn, Thanks again! I am patiently waiting as well! Glad to know items are ready to ship as well! A little different than Bill Ruger's concept of supply and demand, but they have to keep up with the times! You are right unless they are die hard fans of a certain company, they are more likely to be swayed in purchasing other weapons they can handle in the store!

I am sure you probably have your reveiws written on the products, if not on paper surely in your mind! I will wait patiently-although it will be a long month until Shot show!

4?????Four!!!!! Good gravy....There goes my piggy bank and here comes some looks and eye rolling from the spouse.
Thanks for the heads up. I guess Ill start putting alittle away.

I am not saying that Ruger has four new firearms in development. I am saying that I know of four. I am certain that they have others of which I am not aware.

Just when I start to think that I have all the guns that I want, they show me something else!

Jeff

Thanks for the teaser Jeff. I remember this same thing happening last year. Not an insult, but everyone on this forum turns into gossipy teenagers about what is to come, me included. I am crossing my fingers it's the DA .22 as the thread started. Oh yea, an 8 or 10 shot GP based .22, boy oh boy.

They have some cool stuff on the way, but don't be disappointed if the new introductions are something very different from the topic of this thread. Besides, Ruger already has a ten-shot 22. The magazine is just vertical instead of circular.

Jeff,,, maybe we can bump into each other at SHOT & drool together & discuss how we are gonna add the new offerings to our hoard,,!
As always,, I too totally appreciate y'alls website. I refer folks to it a lot,,,!

Well now we can have a guessing game of what the 4 will be.

Here are my guesses.

1) SR556 Predator Rifle
2) Double Action 22LR (SP101 like).
3) SR45
4) Ruger 1911

PLEASE DONT LET IT BE A PLASTIC REVOLVER BASED ON THE LCR!!! I have this awful feeling that is what it is, because it is so easy to manipulate plastic/polimer parts. I want an ALL STEEL gun like the SP101.

Good point. I would not be at all interested in a plastic framed revolver based on the LCR. The LCR is a nice gun and has a purpose but I want a .22lr SP101 with a 3 or 4 inch barrel. I would buy the first one I saw if it was an SP101 or similar.

I don't know about a GP frame .22. Maybe I would eventually buy one but I would put it at the bottom of my list of guns to buy.

Ruger is goin to go where the money is. I wouldnt blame them testing the waters with an LCR first.
A .22 LCR makes perfect sense for those who want a cheap-shooting practice gun/trainer for their .38 LCR.

Exactly the same thing can be said for .22 SPs and .22 GPs, too. I'd think there would be a certain market for all of them.

SInce we are talking about 22lr, I personally would love to see a lcp in 22!

I'll be there. If you see me, give out a holler.

I would like to see a new Ruger DA 22 with a steel frame. Just improve the trigger over the old SP and you have a winner as far as I'm concerned. I have quite a few DA 22 revolvers and unless Ruger comes out with one with at least a reasonable trigger, they can keep it.

If it's a SP frame size, I'm hoping it's available in a .22 mag. My old 4", .22lr High Standard Sentinel is an excellent 'kit' gun, without S&W or Ruger pricing, or the SP101's weight, and was available in .22 mag as well. They're just kinda hard to find. I missed 1 this past year, and have been kicking myself ever since.... :(

With the metallurgical improvements of the last 30 years, you can't tell me that a revolver can't be built along similar lines that will hold up to thousands of rounds.

The SP101 is a great platform, and I'm purdy doggone fond of my 2-1/4" .357 Lipsey's model in the shadow grey with wood inserted grips. :D Especially when I carry it in my Simply Rugged holster! But a .22 doesn't need to be that heavy for 'woods bummin'.

Now if the new gun is a SP101, I'll definitely check it out, but it could stand to go on a diet if chambered in either .22 lr or .22 mag.

Now what I'd really like to see is a 1/2 lug, 4" blued, 5 shot GP100 in .44 Special with adjustable sights! Put me on the list for that 1 right now!

Just my .02!

The problem with having a barrel compatible with 22 Magnum is that it renders the gun inaccurate with 22 Long Rifle. This is the problem with the Single Six.

I believe that the gun should have a barrel optimized for 22 Long Rifle , adjustable sights and an excellent trigger. There is no good reason that we should have to buy an old S&W 17 or 18 or a new S&W at nearly $1000 to get those features. What I am suggesting is a Ruger version of the K22 affordable by the average working guy.

The gun I would like to see would have a trigger exactly like the GP100, which only gets smoother and slicker with lots of use. In my opinion, a 22 Long Rifle optimized, all steel revolver based on the GP100 action in an SP101 sized gun, with a 3" and 5 inch barrel would be ideal. I would like to see a revolver as accurate as the MkII pistol. The reason I dropped 22 DA revolvers is that they tend to have cylinder alignment issues, causing spitting and jammed cylinders (S&W & Colt). The GP/SP cranes have a locking lug, which should eliminate this problem. Making an excellent DA revolver in 22 is a difficult task, but with todays technology, it ought to be doable and affordable. So long as it is not plastic.

You got that right. The defense of this plastic nonsense just blows my mind. I much prefer steel over recycled milk jugs any day. My hope is for a 4" GP with an 8 shot cylinder and a magnum version to follow.

I also agree that Ruger should keep the barrel diameter optimized for the 22LR. Personally, I would like to see the GP-100 or an improved SP with a larger capacity cylinder for 22LR. A 3" or 4" with adjustable sights would be my preference. Not sure what the weight would be, but that issue needs to be addressed as well. The GP's trigger improves with use. The Colt Trooper Mark III in 22LR was a great revolver, but most tend to think it is a bit on the heavy side in 22 due to the added cylinder weight (small holes). No point in bringing out a DA revolver that many feel is simply too heavy. The revolver needs to shoot well and carry well in a holster in the woods without the reliability issues you get with Taurus revolvers (not to mention the trigger).

Way back when, I had a 4" SP in 22LR. But, for a 22, it weighed a ton and had miserable sights.
Sold it long before they became collectible.

Hope they don't make the same mistake(s) again.

Pete

The gun you sold would probably have been well worth having new sights installed. I didnt purchase one of those guns because of the sights and problems I was having with Colt and S&W 22s. I went to the MKII pistol instead. I have had far less trouble with the MKII than I had with 22 revolvers. The MKII is also far more accurate by virtue of a barrel designed for 22LR rather than 22 Magnum.
