Here's a li'l ole thang I picked up about a year ago at a LGS. Seems like they're demanding pretty good coin these days, too; far more than the shop was asking for this one. And no, I'm not the one who polished the grip frame.

Unconverted since 1959.

I also have a 6.5" Flattop with Sambar stags from the same year and am considering swapping the grips and frames if they each fit okay.

I'd just look for an original XR3 grip frame & swap it out. A nice one will cost about $125 average,, and then the polished one could be sold to recover part of the cost.
I'd leave the 7-1/2" one alone. It too commands a premium.

Yes, I will watch for one but figured if each of these fit each gun without any modifications I wouldn't be hurting the value of either gun and could always easily swap them back if desired. Plus, the stags would make for a wicked combo on the 10"!

A proper grip frame could be found on any old pre-1963 Single Six that you might find for $400. Swap the grip frames and sell the Single Six for $350.

Geez, my first set of legit Ruger ivory grips came on a $290 round gate Single Six that was listed on GunsAmerica as having "white plastic grips"!
