Carbine stock is to short fer me, is their an alternative? I have a new 10-22 and a couple of bricks of 22 I would like to go play

They make a 1" thick recoil pad that extends the length of pull for us long arm shooters. It runs about $16 at the gun stores. Here is the link to Midwayusa for one

I just measured, the carbine is 13 1/2 trigger to center of butt.
My walmart 22" rifle stock has a factory 1/2 rubber pad and only measures 14".
and a Talo rifle stock measures 13 1/2"

so not much different with Ruger stocks

At 6'3" with long arms I have this problem with every rifle I get with a fixed length stock.

Edit: I just wrote a long post about building spacers and attaching a Limbsaver pad...... Only to remember the curved buttplate and how it wraps around the top. So forget that.

I suppose another option is to buy an unfinished aftermarket or even a used 10/22 stock.......and do the work to that. That way you can cut/remove wood/add wood, sand, shape and fit at will..... and then apply the final finish. Maybe cut the aftermarket stock just in front of the cutout for the plate and add in a nice 1"-2" piece of wood. Really custom.

This allows you to put the OEM stock away in a safe place in case you ever want to sell the gun or hand it down, with the "brand new" original stock.
