Ruger 10/22 Question

When did Ruger drop the walnut stock and go to simply hardwood (beech?)

I have one from the late walnut stock era, but it does have the warning on the barrel. So probably 1977-1979 production?

You mean carbines? They still do the walnut deluxe sporter.

I have a new in the box with the early sticker on the butt plate that says made of American Birch, only the first ones got the sticker and it was made/shipped February 81. The Workman book says the earliest known shipped birch was June 1980 but there was considerable overlap before all the walnut was used up.

Makes sense, I got my info from the R.L. Wilson book Ruger and his guns. Kinda playing off memory. I think () the metal butt plates ended around’77

I think there was some 10/22R's made in the 118 prefix or was it the 121. Memory bad!!

some of the 119- (1979) have a walnut stock and plastic butt-plate.
