10/22 front sight

Need some advise on removing and reinstalling a front site
Have a stainless rifle with williams peep site setup
Going to a low power scope and need to remove the front sight as it is taller than the factory site and cannot use the factory rear site with it
Then reinstall factory site
Have tried the brass punch to drift it out and it won't budge, and don't want to buy a site pusher for one use
Anyone have any experiance with these, ideas

the barrel MUST be firmly mounted in a well padded vise to keep the "bounce" and movement to a minimum....short, flat non metallic punch (drift) and a BIG enough hammer to get the job done....

My nerves couldn't take the heavy pounding that was apparently required to get my factory front site off.

I eventually just took my Dremel tool and very, very carefully cut through the middle of the sight and then it came out easily..... Good luck !!
