Hello - I'm trying to remove the front sight from my LCP Custom (the one with the red trigger). I'm having the same problem that everyone seems to have, based on my research: The regular Glock tool, or anything similar, will not fit over the nut, because there is not enough clearance between the edges of the nut and the circular cutout around it. (Great design, Ruger.)

The only solutions that I seem to find are that people take a nut driver and chamfer the edges so it will fit over the nut. Rather than do that, I am hoping to find a nut driver that will fit without such modifications.

My question: Can anyone recommend a nut driver that will fit -- by brand name and model number. A link would be helpful. Please note that I am not looking for generic answers: I want brand name and model number, so I can buy it.

PS - My understanding is that the nut is 3/16", but please let me know if I am wrong. Thanks

I know you aren't looking for BS answers but sometimes they provide the easiest solutions.

For my Glocks I got a nut driver from a pawn shop and modded it.

May I also suggest you post in the gunsmith section. You may get more views and incite.

Good luck,

I've tried about 3 times over the last 20 years to remove a front sight on a gun and never have been able to... I even bought a sight pusher and it would not work... yep, gun smith section is probably where we need to go.

Personally, I don't see the downside of modifying a 'nut driver' or 1/4" drive socket for this purpose.
Over the years, I'd accumulated quite a collection of 'modified' wrenches/sockets/widgets that were the solution to many difficult fix-it tasks but all were lost in the 11/2/22 shop fire. Now have to start over.
