I posted about buying a Starrett 6 inch dial caliper and my extreme disappointment that it was faulty right out of the box. It was .004" off when it was closed and would only zero after I jiggled the thumb wheel.
After a discussion with the company that I bought it from I got no satisfaction so I contacted Starrett directly. After a couple of transfers between different people in the Athol Massachusetts plant I was put in contact with a very delightful gentleman in the repair department who took care of my problem.
They took my caliper back and properly calibrated it to a true zero under warranty repair. They sent it back with several decimal equivalent cards and have expressed interest in the tool scholarship program that we do for the HVACR class at the regional trade high school.
Vinnie at Starrett is a class act and I'm totally satisfied with how they took care of my problem.

I think what you do is pretty cool. Glad that you are able to find vendors that are willing to support your endeavors.
Home Depot works with me on the basic tool sets that we give for the tool scholarship. I've set the mark at a 90% to get a set.
However there is a 2026 graduate who had an 88% average that was hired by a local HVACR company that I do business with. I gave him a set because I know he is working for good people and it will help him
