When do you become a target?

Oh, yes sir. I can’t believe I am talking to such a stud.
Not a STUD, just someone in the wrong place at the wrong time that was charged with bringing Brothers HOME.
If I had to eliminate a few folks without ISAR Patches along the way, so be it.

Guess I'll never be the Warrior you where, but since you never did or couldn't pass the prerequisite courses that got me where I was. PRATTLE on KEYBOARD COMMANDO.

I was speaking in regard to the "metal detector" part of M118's post. I am told that the ABS versions can be slid into other ABS shapes and be undetectable within them as the shape is changed. I have seen an ABS in a hairbrush. I can't confirm, just passing it on.
Carbon fiber usually dosent set-off a metal detector eIther, but some cf has nickle or stainless steel fibres in it, and the first knifehandled comb and brush i recall had fibreglas blades, also not metaldetectable, but dont recall mere abs.

So since you never spent a day of your youth as a target, how does it feel to become a target that may have to give their life to allow a loved one to survive USAF Combat Medic unproven?

Edit Please provide those Air medals, all those combat ribbons, and anything else you can find on the internet? 😲😂🤣

Sometimes it is sensible to actually acknowledge folks that really did things? But Prattle on little dog on the porch. 😂🤣

Guess I've got to blow the BS Whistle.

Or maybe you ain't the dedicated Professional you want to pose as?
Was a dedicated professional. I am now retired. These junkies have to right to my trading and skills. My state thinks that decriminalizing drug use, giving them free clean needles and syringes, and free housing to junkies and illegals, while veterans sleep on the street is the way.

Well, let me tell you what happens here in my state. Somebody gets caught with Fentanyl, either using it or possessing it, and the cops write them a ticket. The ticket and any jail time is waived if they agree to go into treatment. So they agree to go into treatment and just don’t show up for treatment or their court dates.

When the cops bump into the same person again, it’s rinse and repeat.

I think Trump is right in that we should incarcerate them first, let them come off of their junk in jail, and then look at rehabilitation and housing.

The way things are now just leads to a lot of used needles lying around on public sidewalks, in parks and on playgrounds. They just use them and throw them wherever because they know they can get more for free.

Make those syringes and needles be like gold to them. Make them so scarce that they go back to sharing needles and giving each other diseases. When they die out, the problem goes away.

So far removed from the Original Topic that even I can't give you a pass.
You didn't serve as a Target when and if you served. But you shall become a target as you age.
So you shall learn to disguise all your many weaknesses apparent to thugs without saying a word. Yup you better get better at that than you did here.
Wish you and yours luck brother. But thanks for upping the post count. 👍

What you carry on hand is what you are going to have to defend those you love with once the EVIL THUGS determine that you are a target. JMHO.

Not metal knives are molded into the boots that are removed once you bypass metal detectors. Don't ask how I know?
Nope. Different material from the boot- and there is usually a bit of separation because of it. ABS slid into ABS becomes integral with whatever it's slid into. The hairbrush I saw had no spaces and was the same material. Not saying it's not possible, but would be incredibly hard to detect. It may definitely survive buried in luggage as it rolls through the x-ray.

Current Operations, who scans your boots?

I've passed multiple international scans with a carbon fiber knife in my boot, but what has that to do with a Thug labeling you as a target at the grocery store? To get back on topic.

Uncle Sam used to instill one to center mass and one to the head, that was with a .45 ACP 1911 Government. Yet sidearms without a CNS strike require time to bleed out before incapacitation.

The Older I get the longer that time seems to take in microseconds. YMMV.
Back when i carried for pay, i had never shot anything but a 22 buffalo scout, and my 7-1/2" 44sbh, so a 4" hb da k38 wasent in my experience. At 25 feet, with the 2-shot part of the drill, i consistently hit center sternum and voicebox on the tsrget. Was asked where i learned that, and told him these danged old smooth wornout grips are slipping or the second would be landing with the first. because of that the boss let me replace them with a set of mustang's hockeypucks.
Dont know bout no .23 second, but it felt more like half a second to me. The instructor asked, You never shot a k38 before, and you can shoot like that? I told him i did read mcgivern, and had worn out 3 cheap plastic-cap starterpistols from ten yro to 16, so i did know from fast da trigger control. Six rounds centrrmass at 20 feet in 2 seconds is do-able, but fortunstely i never needed to do it en gravis extremis. Never got near miculek speed on the reloads...more like him on slo-mo...

For many years I carried a 1911A1, Later I switched to a Colt Combat Commander. Naturally both were .45 ACP For about the last ten f so years I also carried an S&W M60 .38 Spl. as a back up piece.
Nightstand gun is a Taurus PT99, the target sigted vesion of the Taurus PT92 which I call the Brazilian Beretta. I have carried on occasion an S&W 6906. Like the Taurus its a DA 9MM. Which brings us to the saga of the Buck knife.
Somethng woke me up about three in the morning and I hear a couple of guys talking quietly. I look out the slider door and they're trying to get into my pickup truck. It's a 2019 F150 4X4.
I retrieve the Taurus from my nightstand, grab my walker and quietly open the slider door and unlocking the heavy duty screen door. What a sight. An open doorway, an 88 year old man in his skivvies using a walker and holding this huge Beretta wanna be 9MM pointed directly at them. Dude #1 takes of likea sclded rabbit but #2 is apparently frightened especially when I say, "Can I help you?" I could see something in his hand so I told him to throw ot awat which he did, This dude was totally scared stiff and I feld kind of sorry for him so I said I would not call the cops this time but, if I ever saw hin in my yard without my express inviation, that I wwould shoot him dead withut hesitation. No warned except a loud bang. I then told him to leave and close the gate on his way out which he did. Iwent back to bed aand later that day when I went ut to do some shopping there was the fairly large Buck knife laying on the ground. Other tat the cutting edge was nicked up qite a bit the knife seemed to be in good shape. I have sharpening stones of all kinds but none would touch that blade so I sent the knife to Buck to repair whatever needs fixing and sharpen the blade for me. It looks like a fairly heavy bladed utility knife with a fairly thick spine. I guess you could say the price was right.

Buck are some hard steel. It's their schtick. Takes forever to put an edge on, but it lasts longer. Buck fans consider it worth the effort.

Actually this is getting fun. Two stone cold killers arguing with one another which one is the badest of the bad. So, let me see if I got this right. One is a USAF "Combat Medic". I take that to me a PJ. and the other's screen name is a type of ammunition, so I figure a sniper of some type.

That's the advantage of not being anything but a plain ordinary airedale. We don't have to ever worry about having to get into a measuring contest.

Before I retired I was showing a couple lads around the facility telling them what needed to be done that day. One of them asked me when was the last time someone jumped me. I returned with Heaven help the poor fool that tries. He asked why. My reply was simple, Because I cheat. The blank look on their faces was priceless as they contemplated what that might mean, and that ended that conversation.

I stopped thinking about grappling with 20 somethings when I was a 20 something!

That said, I also learned early on that one needs to be aware of the world around you. What you do not see will (ok can) kill or injure you.

I learned to look for improvised weapons or carry an improvised weapon; at one point I was walking daily 1 to two miles to start and by the end 7-10. I ALWAYS had a walking stick in my hand, early on concealed carry was not legal in Kansas and I usually walked between getting off work and picking up my kid at school, so carrying a gun was still not legal.

Anyway, when I was doing Grad School in a large city I was taught to ALWAYS KNOW WHAT/WHO WAS AROUND ME. This habit has stuck ever sense. I think a lot of people who get attacked is a matter of no awareness of the world around them. I really do not mean the catch phrase of "situational awareness" --- I mean simple awareness, by the time there is a situation one needs to deal with it is way too late. As someone else has said, the beat way to not get attacked is do not be there.

Where did i say anybody ran me thru a metal detector? Ya crazy or sompin?

I never said I was a badass, just that I have ended lives, and most were not in the way you are probably imagining. Most of the time I was trying to keep our guys from dying.

But this guy want’s to make it seem like only HIS experience counts for something. That a person’s last exhalation is the most profound sound one will ever hear. It’s not. One does not go around holding someone that target them, tried to hurt them, and was subsequentially sent off this mortal coil in their arms.

A fellow serviceman, yes you would actually comfort and aid them. Some chimp that tried to rob you? No. If I have to shoot someone to keep myself alive, I am not going to render them aid. They are not going to die in my arms.

It’s the same with junkies. They are not receiving any aid from me. It’s too risky. They can die. It’s not my responsibility legally or morally. Why should I bring someone back from being clinically and legally dead, just for them to kill themselves in the same way a couple of weeks later. That’s cruel. A person should only have to die once.

H-H even with sticks, stones, or knives is exceptionally Close Combat.

I guess how much weight you place on lost life is an individual concept.

So many currently take their own lives perhaps it's value is diminished.

Part of not becoming a Target is attempting to save those you care for and/or yourself.

Meth has been around since axis and allied powers supplied it to their troops. It got called speed, and 'speed kills' was originally a 'dont do meth' campaign. Sanfrancisco was a fantastic place to a kid in the 60s, but ya hadda keep ya head on a swivel.
I got a nice scar on my left side just above my hip. Old war wound? Nope, complements of two San Francisco residents that tried to take my wallet while I stood at a urinal in the airport. 1972. The city was crap then and still is.

Oh by the way, I was arrested. The thieves were never arrested after their hospitalization. The provost marshal said to just let it drop. Heck for the about $15 PSA was charging at the time, I'd have flown back.

I was standing at the urinalysis in the bathroom at a concert, and I felt my wallet start to move in my back pocket. I turned around mid stream and hosed his (you can guess his color) a$$.

He had urine starting from his thigh to his chin. And I had my 22 sterling out in the process. He turned and ran out. Of course I got a little on my jeans as well, but so worth it. I kept my wallet and he almost got shot in the face. Very satisfying to pee on a would be pick pocket.

I made myself a target because of the loud environment, having my wallet in my back pocket, and standing at the urinal. I should have used the stall.

I should have picked up on the fact that there were only three black guys in the whole venue all hanging’ by the exit, which was right by the bathrooms.

My situational awareness was lacking that night. They were hanging out in the entrance, not the room where the concert was taking place. They probably didn;t even buy a ticket.

All three were gone by the time I exited the restroom.

When you hit about 65 or so. The crooks know. So do you. if they get close nuff with any weapon and you have a "sharp"knife...use it...need more...shoot them...shoot till they quit moving. Sounds simplistic. I saw a cop get butchered by a woman with a knife..before he shot her. He nearly died. She didn't but should have...my aide and I helped him first. He went to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. He was leaking pink liquid when we got him there. He let her get too close. People with knives (hammers and hatchets) have always scared me more than ones with guns....They want to get too close.

Well, I don't know just who might be the sniper of some type but and many of my friends call me PJ due to the fact the those are the initials of my first and middle name I us presume you mean me. One set of facts to remember is I was never a "combat medic" for the USAF or any other branch of the service, I was in the USAF as a meteorologist. A task which served me well after I became a civilian. BTW, my time in service was from 1960 to 1964.

PJ USAF and AIRR USN are acronyms for job skills Inservice. Both are relative to NINE Line related tasks in today's Service.

Precision Rifle skill sets are more common in the broader spectrum of Navy NSW NAC CAC Classifications than in the clearly defined roles of today's Air Force. JMHO YMMV.

Edit. NSW.
